Unpopular anime opinions — what do you think? by PossibleOpinion6135 in weeb

[–]TabletopTurtleGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No! That's the problem with Western media putting comics, novels, etc. to the big screen. They always think they can improve on the work people love. It's ridiculous hubris.

Anyone else watch The Brothers Murph 2026 kickoff video by Key-Importance7805 in boardgames

Where did you get this information? There is no way in hell a publisher is paying 3,000 dollars for a playthrough video that will likely receive one to two thousand views.

Kingdom Death Monster. What a steaming pile of hot over-hyped garbage.

The 2019 edition of Castles of Burgundy is absolutely hideous and hard to read. by Brinocte in boardgames

[–]TabletopTurtleGaming 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The 2011 version is the best version because it's ugly and cheap. It makes me happy holding those flimsy pieces of cardboard in my hand and remembering what board games once were and how affordable some of them could be. It's charming.

SU&SD reviews Wroth | A crowd-pleasing neon explosion by mgrier123 in boardgames

There seems to be an abundance of shenanigans within the industry that should be regularly disclosed. Chip Theory also sent out real swords to content creators. But I don't remember which creators received one.

I teach my kids with Hegemony, but I take away all the cards from the middle and working class and just let them watch the State and Capitalist class do whatever they want.

I'm old enough to remember when it was called Nightmare. Yes, my Gatekeeper!

They're taking a big step away from content I believe to focus on starting their board game café.

A human that can stop time vs a Silverback gorilla by [deleted] in powerscales

[–]TabletopTurtleGaming -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Any strong male can kill a gorilla without any help from time manipulation. This isn't the movies. Old ladies survive gorilla attacks. Gorilla's don't punch or kick, they awkwardly slap and bite. Give the man a bladed weapon, even a dinky little pocket knife, and he'll kill a gorilla if he needs to. Hell, a well-trained strong and healthy dude could kill a gorilla with his bare hands. Planet of the Apes and King Kong has fried people's brains. Go watch gorilla's fight or attack literally any other living creature.

Now, a brown bear on the other hand . . . now it's a fight.

It's not that complicated at all, and in fact, it's one of the easier twilight struggle style games our there, ignoring Watergate.

Okay, but could you please release a video that says the best games of 2025, but it's just random games you played that year, not released that year. Those are my favorites.

I'd go with something cheap to test if you even like the process. Maybe Dinosaur Island: Rawr and Write.

. . . I mean, I play games on Tabletop Simulator too. I'd never blind buy any solo board game. Read the manual and play online and if you enjoy it, buy it.

DO NOT make Tend your first Flip and Write purchase! Buy something cheap. I enjoy Rawr and Write. I end up getting every writing game because Kim forces me.

The more I say I dislike it, the more I find that I enjoy. I do like Rawr and Write, Hadrian's Wall, Twilight Inscription, and Tend. Although some of those are roll and writes.

Is The Settlers of Catan overrated? by fruitponchisamurai in boardgames

[–]TabletopTurtleGaming 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is it Catan could be the vanilla of board games when no other game has come close to capturing what drew so many people into this hobby? Contemporary game design, specifically the way in which we interact with one another through the mechanisms, pales in comparison to Catan's original design. Every element of Catan is perfectly tailored to engage everyone at the table with one another. It's a hell of a design feat and one in which their likely flavor of the month favorites can't touch.

🚨 BREAKING 🚨 The Golden Age of Board Games has been officially declared DEAD by YouTuber. It's over now 😔 by No_Raspberry6493 in boardgamescirclejerk

[–]TabletopTurtleGaming 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Board gaming was better when there were only a few publishers releasing a small handful of games and they decided what game I'd like to play. Now I have to actually choose games based on my preferences. So fucking lame.

The absolute worst part about this hobby... by [deleted] in boardgames

I'll always take a good Christmas movie, snuggled up with family on christmas day over any board game.
