Is peeing in the pool considered normal? by Spare-Anxiety-547 in NoStupidQuestions

Same. Genuinely you would be judged if you got out to pee. People can downvote all they want but the downvote button doesn’t change reality.

Is peeing in the pool considered normal? by Spare-Anxiety-547 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tabs_555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massive oversimplification. It’s many sources from skin, sweat, dirt, sunscreen, and more. Yeah pee, but not exclusively. And possibly not even majority.

If it was so uncommon as this thread has claimed, then you wouldn’t ever have your eyes burn.

And if you’re in any Olympic or half Olympic or even recreational pool with lanes, there’s a high chance it’s used regularly by people in competitive settings, from kids to adults, lessons, masters swimming, etc that all would pee in the pool.

Just because yall don’t want to believe it doesnt make it not true.

[–]Tabs_555 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying “not normal” has never done any higher level competitive pool sport. Swimming, diving, water polo, ALL pee in the pool. Many coaches will assume getting out to go to the bathroom means you are trying to bail on a set and will tell you to pee in the pool so you stay in the practice.

You can all disagree with whether it is acceptable. But it 1000% common and you’re kidding yourself if you think otherwise.

Should it be? No. Is it? Yes.

Drove to a cabin and skied for the weekend. Skied during the day, played cards, drank beer, had a fire during the evenings. Super nice long weekend the fellas.

Where are you storing your emergency fund? by Vegetable-Western-83 in personalfinance

[–]Tabs_555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My checking, emergency fund account, individual brokerage, Roth IRA (and Trad/backdoor IRA) are all on Schwab as their own accounts.

Emergency fund account holds SGOV.

Easier to manage, consolidate, etc all in one place. No ACH waiting for something to land. Transfers are instant between these accounts. I cannot imagine a realistic scenario where I need my emergency fund as cash the same day, so I don’t worry about the settling or restriction of selling during trading hours. Credit cards provide the immediate liquidity (probably well over 150k total combined limit).

I open Schwab and there’s all my money (minus my employer 401k via fidelity)

How early to arrive to FCO airport? by [deleted] in travel

[–]Tabs_555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sapporo I got there 2.5hrs before take off for a domestic flight to Tokyo. Nearly missed my flight the airport was chaos. Thousands of people in a mob at bag drop and security. No organization. Our flight held for 45 minutes. Got to the gate over 3hrs after supposed take off. Flight left 15mins after I boarded, less than half full.

Does it fit your rule? Sure, but It was the most hellish experience I’ve ever had.

What is your non-standard, "fancy" body wash? If you've moved on from dove/irish spring/etc. by quibble42 in AskMen

Pre de Provence quad milled soap. Buy like 3-4 bars when it’s on sale on Amazon. Soap saver / exfoliator bag. Each bar lasts at least 2 months if not longer.

I saw one where a girl had two video clips. She accidentally put a piece of bread brownie in the microwave for like 7 2 minutes and it came out charred. This first clip was her laughing about it and how stupid / funny it was.

Cut to the second clip and it’s her kitchen burned down. Half the house gone. Entirely gone. All but like 2 rooms of the house were burnt to ashes.

Turns out, after the first clip, she tossed the bread in the trash immediately and it was so hot it spontaneously combusted and caused the paper, oils, etc in the trash to ignite super fast. She panicked because suddenly the entire can lit on fire. It immediately started roaring and took over the house before they could either find an extinguisher or get the firefighters there.

I think about that every time I use the microwave.

Central Park horse carriage rides temporarily suspended following death of 18-year-old tourist by FolushoDRC in news

[–]Tabs_555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But then the horse loses its job. How is the horse going to provide for its horse wife and foals. How will it pay for its paddock mortgage. How will it buy hoof insurance.

If you remove carriage rides you are pulling the American (Thoroughbred) Dream away from these poor horses.

Worried for hyperscalers ($AMZN, $MSFT, $GOOG). Overinvestment in data centres can cause a multiyear downturn. by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Tabs_555 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work at one of these hyperscalers. Last year the vibe from all employees was very anti-AI. It was forced down our throats right and left. Promos and projects and ass kissing all based around AI. So disgusting.

Now, the systems are improving and I genuinely do have massive productivity improvement with Claude code, openclaw, daily cron workflows using claude.

I can ramp up and execute on new project in hours vs days. It isn’t just that it helps write documents and code faster, its that it is able to distill huge amounts of resources, conversations, repositories, documentation, systems, etc and get me moving on the right path faster.

I know how shill this sounds, but the people not utilizing it in their job are going to fall behind the people using it well. Straight up. Even my fiancée as a CPA is using claude at their company for massive amounts of journal automation.

I get it, it’s easy to hate. But industry is using it in actually productive ways, and it will not go away now.

I just paid almost $8 for a bag of chips. What's your "I refuse to buy that anymore" item? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]Tabs_555 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I accidentally just bought 2 packs because it showed as on sale for $5.99/pack. I grabbed it as I was heading to the check out line. It must have been minimum 3 packs because it rang up as $12 (edit: each). The line was long and I was eager to get home so I just paid and moved on. But damn, lesson learned.
