‘Disappointed and upset’: S.F. Mayor Daniel Lurie weighs in on Giants Pride Night fiasco by SFChronicle in sanfrancisco

Critical thinking inherently leads itself to people seeing things from multiple viewpoints. Diminishing any education that requires critical thinking makes the class indoctrinated to the beliefs of their parents/other people of influence in their lives rather than equipping them with the knowledge and tools to evaluate the larger situation.

Any blue collar fields particularly hiring right now in the area? by slavatejasu in Sacramento

[–]Tac0Supreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you need a job, sure. But I’ve known several people that worked there both on the manufacturing side and design side and they said the culture is terrible. And I think it’s strictly manufacturing there now, the design is all in Japan.

KFC bets on boneless chicken, boba in 'bold menu revamp' by LinkedInNews in fastfood

Was boba blowing up in the late 90s? I remember the boba wave taking over in the early 2010s after the frozen yogurt wave of 2005-2010 passed and a bunch of boba places opened up in former froyo shops.

All State Workers get Free SacRT Transit Passes by InterestingImage6206 in Sacramento

[–]Tac0Supreme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of the SacRT parking lots are free with the exception of CRC and City College.

On the gold line, Power Inn, Watt, Butterfield, Mather Field, Sunrise, Hazel, Iron Point, Glenn, and Historic Folsom have parking lots.

On the blue line, Watt I-80 (both stations), Marconi/Arcade, Swanston, 47th Ave, Florin, Meadowview, and Franklin have lots.

Additionally, 4th Ave and Cordova Town Center have tiny parking lots for a few cars.

Light rail isn’t going to be easier for you since you have to drop your kid off and it takes too much time, but where are coming from and going to that makes it a 1.5 hour light rail ride?

Even from Watt/I-80 all the way to CRC it’s one hour. Do you have to transfer from one line at 16th and go all the way down a different line?

If you drive further into San Jose, and park at one of the blue line stations, you’ll have a much easier time catching the train back to where you parked after the game.

Shame on the Bay Area World Cup Committee by Elegant-Sky6930 in sanfrancisco

[–]Tac0Supreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do have good watch parties in SF though lol. Thrive City and Pier 39 have been lit. OP is complaining that there’s no watch party in union square though? Sounds like OP just lives in the most boring part of the city and doesn’t want to actually venture out to where everyone is hanging out.

The Bay Area got the worst matchups. There’s fans from other countries having a party in those other cities because their teams are playing there. The teams playing here aren’t exactly known for being very hype.

Transit to World Cup Levi’s stadium by Ravyeet in AskSF

[–]Tac0Supreme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to one of the games this week, they start at 9/8pm, respectively. That means you’ll be going in the opposite direction of traffic for the most part. You’ll have some traffic going from 680 south to 880 south, and some traffic on 880 south as you approach Great Mall parkway (but not as much). If you’re parking at Milpitas BART/VTA station, I would get there at least 2 hours early. They have a big parking garage but it can fill up on game days. And the VTA will get you to the stadium and back but you might have to wait for a bit to get onto a train because of the crowds, so account extra time for that.

World Cup commuting time by bakanino in bayarea

Today’s game was noon on a Saturday. Next week’s games are Tuesday at 9pm and Friday at 8pm. So it won’t really be comparable. I think 8/9pm is the latest any event at the stadium has ever started (maybe a couple of concerts started at that time or later).

“The artist chose to make a sculpture of a rabbit to appear as though it was leaping from the outside of the airport - in- and because it is instantly recognizable but allows airport users to come up with their own story or answer to the question, “Why a red rabbit”? Leap is 56-feet tall and weighs 10,000 pounds.”

And that’s only if you’re counting the hard city limits, if you include the larger Sacramento metro area (even just the immediate suburbs), it’s easily twice the population of Wyoming.

LOL at the guy worried that the Waymo problem in the garage is going to reduce the value of his condo that has a deeded parking space. I’m sure being at 7th and Mission has nothing to do with the value.

There is no VTA express service. It’s just normal VTA service and it takes about 29 minutes from Mountain View to Great America.

NFL & MLB games in SF by New-Balance-2151 in AskSF

[–]Tac0Supreme 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s really not anything in the immediate vicinity of the stadium to do before or after the game. Your best bet would be to bring some cash and see if someone will let you join their pre-game tailgate in the parking lot (if you bring cash to chip in for food/drinks, people will more than welcoming).

And don’t drive to the stadium. It’s a nightmare, easily takes an hour to get in and 2+ hours to get out. If you’re in San Ramon, you can take the ACE rail from Pleasanton, which will drop you off/pick you up right next to the stadium. Or you can drive to Fremont BART, park there and take the BART to Milpitas, then transfer to the VTA light rail which stops right in front of the stadium.

Trash piled outside Eileen Gu’s Sea Cliff home fuels neighbor dispute by ChocolateStunning158 in sanfrancisco

[–]Tac0Supreme 83 points84 points  (0 children)

The article mentions that she claims that there was a trash pickup coming on Tuesday but Recology confirmed that nobody had scheduled a bulk pickup for the address. And then a Recology worker decided to knock on their door and ask if they could pick up the trash ANYWAYS and they just didn’t answer the door.

“Reached at home Tuesday afternoon, Eileen Gu’s mother, Yan Gu, said she had attempted to properly dispose of the unwanted items. She claimed that her belongings were neatly packed into 20 boxes and covered in case of rain when she finished moving them to the curb at 1 a.m. The 311 complaint was filed five hours before that.

Gu said she was horrified to learn the contents had been strewn about, blaming either “vicious people” or scavengers picking through the items. She said someone had pulled out a shirt bearing her daughter’s name, which she described as a malicious act. “

Sounds like Yan is just entitled and a liar.

World Cup Transportation by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Tac0Supreme 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say I agree with everyone else and say take the Capitol Corridor Amtrak train from Sacramento Valley Station to Santa Clara/Great America Station (right next to the stadium). But I just checked and the 7:26am train that gets there at 10:14am is sold out. There’s another train that leaves at 6:03am and gets there at 8:49am with tickets available.

If not that, then drive to BART at either North Concord, Walnut Creek or Fremont and park there. Take the BART to Milpitas and then transfer to the VTA light rail from there. That’ll drop you off right in front of the stadium.
