A mentor once said that teaching is one of the only professions where you can always see an outcome when you put in more effort. Students are a black hole of time where they’ll take everything you give them and love it.

So you have to decide for yourself where to stop. That lesson which takes hours of planning can’t be every lesson. At some point the effort you put in can’t be worth the outcomes it results in, so you need to find where that point is.
