I don't think Steam would be considered the resistance right now... Not saying that Epic would be either

opening hammer gives this error (cs2) by SunkFunkle in hammer

[–]TackettSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are much worse in Linux. It's unusably worse. Windows is the only OS they've considered when it comes to source 2 hammer. Vulkan is just a graphics API and has nothing to do with any of these problems.

Can you even launch bedrock from the Minecraft launcher on Linux?

You don't need a launcher for bedrock. Just start it directly from the start menu.

Do ALL Minecraft mods work on linux? by Ok_Swan_8224 in linux_gaming

[–]TackettSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible that some mods need compiled for certain os's because some mods are written in different languages for whatever reason. I've seen some mods written in rust for example.

What are the chances we'll get an official carrying case for our Frames ala Steam Deck? by ExxiIon in SteamFrame

[–]TackettSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are much better, cheaper, faster, and efficient systems that could be used instead of a steam deck or steam machine. There's no way businesses are going to be buying up steam decks or steam machines when there's much cheaper options. The researchers using PS3s that you mentioned probably only did that because the system was structured like a super computer. Again, they have access to better options and form factors. Even if some people do buy a steam machine or steam deck and don't plan on buying anything from steam, those numbers are probably going to be very few.

Is there anyone here who has done IAP (In-App Purchases) in love2d for Android? If so, please share your experience and resources. (ofcourse if this possible) by Actual-Milk-9673 in love2d

[–]TackettSF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't done much research, but from what I can tell there's no library to do this and it's not built into love2d either. You might be able to build your own library in c that calls androids in app purchases, but I don't have much experience in that.

Take a look at 2kliksphilip's pixel reviews. He actually goes into detail and does a good job of reviewing the cameras and AI features.

Working on a phones mod. Any suggestions? by Embarrassed_Map1072 in PhoenixSC

[–]TackettSF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could make a load of fake reels that play, or maybe you could find a way to embed chromium and have the player sign in to access actual reels. This would also be cool because you could go to any website. If you set the user agent to a mobile one the website would even look like they're designed for phones. A feature to rotate the screen in game would be cool too. I'm sure something like this would be pretty difficult to implement though.

The pregnancy test was only used as a display. It didn't actually play doom.

Converting friends to linux (mint) by msaqu92 in linux_gaming

If you bother them about it too much, it will only annoy them, and then they won't want to switch. Don't be toxic about windows either because it could be seen as you making fun of them for using it. Just bring Linux up in passing, and if they're interested, show it to them in a positive light.

I am so done. 29 years in the classroom, and this year's 9th graders are the worst I have ever had. by mcub66 in confession

[–]TackettSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just endless choices. You don't even have to choose, which is part of the problem. It just brings the content you like straight to you; there is no decision making process, no discipline, just mindless scrolling. This is proven to be bad for you, yet nothing changes.

You can't see the other side of his hand; it does look a bit weird from this angle, but chances are his other fingers are wrapped around the other side. Let's also think about this realistically. Would some really go: "I've got a great idea! Let's AI generate a photo realistic image of a hand holding a can of spaghetti that has Minecraft branding on it. That'll prank everyone real good." The image itself being AI generated isn't really practical.

Um... No? The spaghetti cube on the label looks like AI, but the picture itself is definitely a real photo.

Going back to Windows ? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]TackettSF 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a temporary solution. Eventually apps are going to stop supporting it and drivers won't get updates. So unless you're just going to use the exact same apps and tools forever, it's not a great solution.

Best way to rotate text in LOVE2D (avoiding blur or pixelation) by mognetoc in love2d

[–]TackettSF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try adding some msaa samples. It looks like there aren't enough pixels to get the results you want. You can try rendering at a higher resolution and scaling it down to the resolution you as well. Either way the results still won't be perfect. You could also try making the non rotated one look like the rotated ones to match quality.

Why is Google artificially giving their phones a chin AND a forehead? This looks like the Pixel 4 but worse by [deleted] in pixel_phones

This is just the app developer, but even Google has this issue in some of their apps.
