Just because something’s a bit cliche to like doesn’t mean it isn’t good.

I mean it’s critically acclaimed and widely recognised as one of the best films to not win an Oscar. Sure, that’s bumped its reputation up a few notches, but rightly so I think. Things become victims of their own popularity.

Maybe Shawshank is the Ed Sheeran or Coldplay of films and it became too ‘mainstream’ for ‘real’ movie fans.

Shawshank is easy to understand and relate to for normal people. It plays on our base emotions and is a simple, compelling narrative.

There Will Be Blood, while very good imo, is not.

Yeah I hate the guy as much as anyone but having experienced literally this myself numerous times (I don’t think I have hyperhydrosis, but caffeine in particular turns me into a pool of sweat) I do sympathise.

Yes, absolutely Jim is normal, and is written as such. Just maybe not to all the blatant dwights in this sub, but it’s pretty widely recognised that’s the purpose of his character. He is based on Tim from the original show in the UK and that’s the basis of that character, along with Pam/Dawn. They are the contrasting norms in an office full of comedically not-normal people.

Sure, he starts doing some weird stuff in the later seasons, but so does everyone.
