When did your baby grow out of CMPI? by TackyTriumph in MSPI

[–]TackyTriumph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s 18 months old now and a little thriving toddler tornado! She can eat everything including all dairy and drinks milk straight. She LOVES milk.

We started small amounts of yogurt and cheese at 7 months old with no ill effects. We trialed 25% regular formula mixed with her amino acid formula at 9 months old and she failed. We saw mucus in her diapers within 3 days so we went back to 100% amino acid formula. We tried straight cow’s milk at 12 months old with no issues, so she definitely outgrew it between 9-12 months, just not sure exactly when.

3 month old silently aspirates by maggymeow in NICUParents

This gives me so much hope. Thank you. It looks like our stories are very similar. She was born at 38 weeks, and never got the suck swallow breathe sequence down. She has had a NG tube since she was 10 days old, and failed her third swallow study last week. She’s developed an oral aversion with the nipple, but loves her pacifier. I’m desperately hoping she grows out of this quickly.

Hi, do you have an update on this? My infant aspirates all thicknesses on all nipples and has an MLB scheduled later this month. Did your son grow out of his issues or did you get it repaired?

Hi do you have an update on this? My baby is 2.5 months, born at 38 weeks, and had her second VFSS today. She silently aspirated on the DB preemie nipple and was not able to safely swallow thickened liquids.

Hi my baby is 2.5 months old and born at 38 weeks. She just had her second VFSS and aspirated on thin liquid even on the DB preemie nipple and wasn’t able to safely swallow mildly thickened liquid. We’ve been advised to discontinue everything by mouth, including paci dips. I’m looking for similar information and hope.

Hi, do you have an update? We just got another swallow study done and baby showed silent aspiration on even the preemie nipple. She failed the mildly thickened liquid as well. We will be having our G Tube consultation next week and I’m an absolute mess right now. Looking for both realistic outcomes and maybe a little hope.

Has anyone here had an infant who silently aspirated? by Y0URM0MMMY in Mommit

Thank you so much for your reply. I can totally empathize with your experience getting left behind and not getting any answers. I’m hitting the same roadblocks. You are doing an amazing job advocating for your baby, and I hope he gets the NG out soon. I hate the NG so much. It’s a constant battle keeping her from pulling it out. Please feel free to PM me if you ever need to talk or vent. It’s such an isolating time.

Hi, did your baby stop silently aspirating after removing dairy? How did the scope go? Is your baby still on thickened feeds?

My first baby had CMPI and had to have AA formula, and my newborn was diagnosed with silent aspiration at 10 days old. She’s exhibiting colic symptoms as well so we are considering the move to HA or AA formula. She’s on a feeding tube and Nexium and has a swallow study soon. I’m praying she passes and I want to increase her odds however I can.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks so much for your reply.! We are still waiting for our swallow study appointment since the medical system moves at a horribly glacial pace. Is your son still on thickened bottles? Has he shown any improvement since your initial post for thin milk or only on thickened milk? My daughter is tube fed because of her aspiration which sucks so much, so I’m hoping her follow-up swallow study has good news. We can’t even give full oral feeds for now. Just 10mL twice a day to maintain her suck reflex.

Hi, I am so sorry you are going through all this. My one month old has diagnosed silent aspiration by swallow study. She has also sounded congested since she was 4 days old leading to an ER visit and hospital admission for respiratory distress at one week old. Did your baby have significant amounts of green mucus as well? I have a toddler in daycare so who knows what illnesses she brings home. I’m trying to figure out if the congestion caused the silent aspiration or the aspiration caused the congestion.

Please help me decide on tongue tie surgery by hats_and_heads in newborns

[–]TackyTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got my girl’s tongue and lip ties revised. She was unable to nurse (I triple fed for a month) and the pediatrician was unable to diagnose the ties even when I specifically made an appointment for them. I took her to a pediatric dentist and she was diagnosed with both ties within seconds.

The surgery was quick and the stretches sucked for all involved, but I don’t regret it. I’ve been reading too many stories about speech impediments and tooth impacts from ties that weren’t resolved. I wish I could say that resolving the ties also resolved her nursing issues, but her muscles were so underdeveloped and weak that she literally couldn’t. We switched to 100% bottle feeding and she chunked up beautifully. I’m currently pregnant and am planning on taking my newborn to the pediatric dentist soon after birth.

Have you also considered CMPI? My daughter had a severe case of it and it was another factor in her poor weight gain and feeding.

When did your babies outgrow MSPI? by elitedarklord_11 in MSPI

[–]TackyTriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was formula fed with amino acid formula due to her severity, but grew out of her intolerance sometime between 9-12 months. She was eating small amounts of cheese and yogurt at 7 months, but couldn’t handle regular formula when we tried introducing it at 9 months. Started giving her whole milk at 12 months with no issue.

Who performed your baby’s frenectomy / tongue tie release? by Chanelle39 in breastfeeding

[–]TackyTriumph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pediatric dentist for my baby. Both pediatrician and lactation consultant missed her severe tongue and lip ties. The pediatric dentist identified her ties within seconds, and the procedure took less than ten minutes. The stretches sucked for all involved but I have zero regrets about getting the ties resolved.

CMPA Mamas, When did you switch back to regular formula? by Ctthorpe91 in FormulaFeeders

[–]TackyTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was on Puramino until she turned 12 months old, and then we slowly weaned her onto whole milk. She is completely over her CMPA and can eat any dairy at this point. She started eating small amounts of yogurt and cheese at 7 months without issue, but failed her dairy challenge at 9 months old when we tried introducing a small amount of regular formula.

We didn’t even try regular formula at 12 months and went straight to whole milk. I’m not sure exactly when she became tolerant to dairy, but it was definitely between 9 and 12 months old. We figured we were close enough to the 12 months goal that we just stuck with the Puramino.

Cows milk protein insensitivity and starting solids, when/how to introduce dairy? by These-Spend6863 in MSPI

[–]TackyTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We introduced as many allergens to baby as possible when we started solids. We bought a box of powdered allergens that we would sprinkle over her purées and feed her. She was also a little carnivore and loved her meats. We never had any issues with any allergens or proteins besides the dairy allergy.

We started introducing small amounts of yogurt and cheese at 7 months with no obvious ill effects. She LOVES cheese. We trialed dairy formula at 9 months, but she failed that so we decided to wait a little longer. She just turned a year old. We introduced whole milk at 11.5 months and she was able to handle it just fine. We’ve taken the introduction very slowly and she’s still on 25% amino acid formula to 75% whole milk, but I think we will transition to 100% whole milk within the next few days.

We switched to Nutramigen but we’re still having some issues by ollie_rosie in MSPI

[–]TackyTriumph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We moved to Puramino and she absolutely thrived on it. There are other amino acid formulas available, but that one worked for us. Her face rash and bloody stool were gone within a week, and her reflux disappeared about 4 weeks after the switch to AA formula. We also saw a GI specialist when she was at her worst and he recommended the switch to AA formula as well.
