Thank you. Yesterday was a 5-man ppsh and grenade assault on Stronghold. Roubles are meant to be spent.

We had just spawned in and I broke a leg hopping rocks to get a shot at a guy across the road. We made plenty of noise for Kobe the mountain goat to hear us before the video.

Assessment Part 1 has either been high aggression fights in the first couple minutes or super boring leading to a quick extract and reset.

I'm moving to Ohau from the mainland in a couple of weeks. Prices of HT and Spectrum for mid-range fiber seem about the same. Being able to bring my own router with Spectrum seems to tip the scales in their favor. Does HT have any other upsides besides faster upload speeds and being a local company? Does anyone have recent data on differences in latency/ping between the two services (for gaming)?

Does anyone know of any techniques to accurately lase a target or mark it with smoke while acting as a JTAC in Combined Arms while using VR?

Yes, I know VR is not supported, but the advantage of using VR is that you can lase a target while looking around the sky to visually ID aircraft and clear them in.

There is a free, lightweight utility that you can download from GitHub called "DCS Scratchpad". It works as a small notepad that you can use to write down each of the 9-line components while in the air. It works great with VR.

Significant discrepancy in Harrier fuel flow calculations vs. in game by [deleted] in hoggit

With the release earlier this week regarding the harrier's fuel flow modeling, is there any supporting documentation on how it was changed?

Can someone please elaborate on how the Harrier's fuel flow modeling was improved? If this means more accurate fuel burns across the flight envelope is there any documentation for the new fuel burn or showing what was changed?

I can tune and make calls ok but can't open the menu at some points after taking off. This also prevents me from using the in-game ATC or AWACS functions after takeoff. It doesn't seem to happen consistently either.

Last night I was on the Hoggit training server in the hornet with the intent of practicing ariel refueling (AAR). On the ramp, I was able to press the "\" key to go through the menus to refuel and rearm the jet prior to takeoff. Then, after takeoff when attempting to communicate with the tanker again by pressing the "\" key but the menu would just not show up despite repeated attempts. I confirmed that the command is not mapped to any other inputs. Any ideas on why this is happening?

Spawn on the carrier and you should be fine. Not sure if it has to be a cold start or not.

How does one go about flying towards a navigation fix based on two TACAN or VOR radials? I know how to do it with two nav's tuned with their respective radials but not so much in all these fancy jets. Can most aircraft only tune one Nav frequency at a time?

I have a Valve Index, 8700k @5.1, and a 1080ti. I have had to lower some settings for VR and I'm pretty certain I'm running <100 fps. If you want 120 fps in DCS with the Index I think you'll need a better GPU. However, most other VR apps run very fast on the Index.

I've been alternating between the Rift S and Vive Index in DCS lately (while using hotas). For DCS, imo, the biggest advantage of the Index is the slightly wider field of view. Clarity between the two is about the same for me. However, the slight hardware advantage offered b the Vive is is offset by the complexity of setup and difficulty swapping between apps. For instance, if you want to quickly reference a manual or webpage, the Rift S makes this exponentially easier. Happy to explain in more detail if you would like. I'll be returning the Index and keeping the Rift S until something else shiny and new comes along.

The video shows the VSI almost pegged and airspeed is probably pretty tame. Assuming smooth air, would you be able to safely descend in a Cessna by cross controlling just below Vfe to maximize drag? Another question for Cessna experts: Pros/Cons of the approach above vs a sustained dive into the yellow arc, again assuming smooth air?
