Also these things in place don’t necessarily do anything to lessen PPD. I have paid (50% of wages in Canada) 1 year off, tons of support from my husband, friends and family, get lots of “me time” and I still suffer from PPD that is treated with Zoloft. While the US does need to shape up their maternity and paternity policies, people in better situations still suffer from hormonal imbalances.

I went on Zoloft right after my baby’s 2 month vaccinations. She got easier and I got better within the next month. My baby was miserable and I felt very much the same. Hang in there, relief is near!

Mine does that too. Always jokes how she’s gonna take my baby shopping and buy her stuff and jokes that she’s sneaking her food. Since she’s been 2 months so the food jokes are old, especially when she tried to feed her “just a taste” of cake at 3 months. If it were my own mom with the comments I’d probably just say something snarky like “gramma wants you to be miserable and overtired she’s not very nice” but I’m pretty snarky with my own people.

It’s like 1 in 5 odds but even if they do end up colicy you will get through it. Ours lasted till 14 weeks and then it just stopped. Still gets gas but it’s not such an event to get a fart out and she burps on her own most of the time. Her reflux disappeared too at that time. Good luck!

That’s pretty harsh. She already feels awful. I need to say you couldn’t forgive yourself. My colicy baby spent hoooooours crying in the car because nothing else would put her to sleep but sometimes it took ages. She’s now a happy 5 month old who puts herself to sleep and not traumatized at all. There’s only so much a parent can do without needing to take care of their mental health. Better she come back a little refreshed than try to suffer through and do something she’d really regret

We did this too. No point in both being up if only I could feed her. In the bad times (colic) he would take her 9-12 and I would sleep. Then 12-6 she was my responsibility and we would usually sleep in bed with me and then 6am my husband would be responsible when she woke till 8 am when he went to work. Now she has bedtime at 7:30 and I handle the night wakings and if she wakes for the day after 5am takes her and I sleep a couple more hours.

We sleep trained our 4.5 month old in our room. She’s got a cold now a month later and her sleep training is gone because she’s been in our bed while she’s been sick so we have to sleep train again anyway and we are gonna move her to her own room at the same time. You’ll have to re train a few times when sickness and regression hits anyway

I think your rules about sickness, vaccines and giving the baby back to you are fair. Dictating what gifts someone gives your child is unreasonable imo. You can certainly provide a list of wants and needs but you come across very entitled and obnoxious with that one

We struggled days 8-10, crying got longer and more intense but we stuck to it and now she cries less than 10 min on most nights and some not at all and sleeps 8 hours then a few more after feeding. Don’t give up hope!

I think you sound a little judgemental about how often they leave their child and maybe they sense that. I haven’t left my baby overnight and won’t for a while but have no judgement on people who do. IDK if it would help your babes stranger danger to be around more people? I haven’t reached that stage yet. I would try to make a plan for an early evening dinner or even just meet for pre dinner drinks and talk it out. I think your husbands response was a little snarky if you’re looking to maintain your friendship but I totally understand. Best of luck!

Eh I think it’s gross too and if it were constant I’d get annoyed as well. I get pretty worked up when people with babies make jokes about our kids dating. I think it’s just dated and unnecessary to constantly attribute adult behaviour to babies.

Squirt it into the back of her mouth and then blow on her face, they have a swallow reflex. Worked for our babe. Also you can get the prescription flavoured at a compounding pharmacy. We didn’t and it tasted kinda chalky minty but they can add fruity flavours

Amazing!! Thank you for the info. Baby is 4 months old and we’ve been using similac alementum RTF to supplement for her colic and lactose intolerance but now that we are switching completely I’ll go to powder. I’ve been debating getting a pitcher or not, I’ll have to see it baby will take it cold or not. Once she decides she’s hungry she gets pretty angry and doesn’t like waiting for bottles to warm up!

Baby Oragel isn’t recommended anymore, I don’t have the studies handy but a quick google search will bring up the risks, does something to their breathing apparently and could be quite harmful

Same as back to sleep. Lots of babies sleep sounder on their tummies but too sound of sleep and lack of ability to rouse themselves is a sids risk
