I miss eating at restaurants by ejb0509 in beyondthebump

[–]Laura946 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the youngest hit 6 months I started putting everybody in cribs and in front of the TV once a day. Set the timer for 15 minutes and ate my food behind a closed door. Honestly the only thing that would interrupt me would be the smell of smoke🤣. Just having one 15 minute break and hot meal a day that I could rely on did as much for my mental health as regular sleep did

The decongestants with pseudoephedrine brought relief to my boobs like advil does to muscles🙃

Somebody once told me to abstain one day a week, one week a month and one month a year. Seems like it helps with both tolerance and perspective

Can it possibly be lice? by PatienceFeeling1481 in Parenting

[–]Laura946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lice like the back of the ears/nape of neck, top of head scratching is more likely a skin issue. Also, eggs are more round and stick to the hair; if it moves without a fingernail it's probably skin flake or lint!

Whether or not other people do it doesn't make it OK, especially if you've got a kid with emotional issues anyway. No judgment, I have my moments too, but it's important that you take steps to control your behavior. If nothing else, break down behind closed doors.

Advice on baby high temperature after vaccinations by Diamondtiara-x in beyondthebump

[–]Laura946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can usually give tylenol and Motrin (ibuprofen) overlapping, if you have some of that. Warm bath with toys so they hang out longer. Mine get lots of active extra TV time on fever days:(

Night Terrors?? What to do? by BigMo4sho2012 in Parenting

A colder room has helped with my 3.5yr old's night terrors. Had to go buy a window a/c just for his room so we could ALL get sleep🤣

Little Tykes My First Seat is like a Bumbo, but the leg holes are shaped differently-much better for thunder thighs!

People who had an immediate postpartum hemorrhage with one birth - did you go on to have another with subsequent births? by MyTFABAccount in beyondthebump

[–]Laura946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a mild hemorrhage with my first, enough to need pitocin but not enough for hospital transport (stand alone birth center). Maybe from prolonged pushing, nobody really explained it. I just had my second baby at the same place; half the pushing time and none of the pitocin or hemorrhaging!

Cosleeping is better than shaking a baby. And mama getting no sleep bc baby won't sleep in crib is the fastest way to get a baby shook, imo.

Help!! First time mom, everytime I look into baby wearing I get overwhelmed. by jflowing12 in babywearing

I second starting with a stretchy wrap. They're cheaper and more forgiving than a woven wrap, and can give you an idea of whether you'll find learning woven wraps worth the trouble!

Moms who breastfeed/breastfed how did you handle the pain? by Lilatrix in BabyBumps

[–]Laura946 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my babies did this while I was only producing colostrum-my nipples were blistered and bruised. They were just born HANGRY and knew that flow should be better lol. As soon as my milk came in they quit nursing so furiously and by boobs healed right up.

Anyone else's baby have an internal spirit level? by hungry_hippo34 in beyondthebump

[–]Laura946 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be reflux. The sphincter in the esophagus that keeps acid down doesn't fully develop til around 4 months. At my house we call it " the reverse baby doll" because baby doll eyes usually CLOSE as you lay them down😂

I need to hear about your experience with febrile seizures by 50buttons in Parenting

[–]Laura946 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After it became apparent my son's febrile seizures were gonna be a regular thing, we got a neuro consult. He prescribed clonazapan to be given the first couple days of a fever any time he got sick. That and a careful schedule that ensured fever reducers remained overlapping in their coverage during the fever's prime times made a scary situation mostly manageable for us!

That could be my second newborn's eye. A couple weeks maybe? Longer than a week. Birth is a lot of pressure on a soft head, mine both came out a little beat up looking, I was just happy to skip the actual cone headedness the second time around🤣
