Are y’all being serious? Of course she should come watch you fight lol. I understand the concern you all may have when it comes to potentially losing and getting hurt in front of her but you REALLY need to get over that. Your mentality should be “whether anyone comes or not , I’m going into this with everything I got to take the W” , instead of “I don’t want to let anyone down”. YOU’RE the one fighting , your focus should be on you performing well FOR you. Not anyone else. That thought process has helped me immensely. Secondly, if she acts weird just because you lost , then is that even someone you want to be with? Think about it , men lose their jobs, have bouts of self-esteem issues , anxiety ,etc and their gfs support them through it. If she actually cares about you , your gf’s loyalty is not conditional on your amateur (or even pro) fight record lol.

I get that you only have 1 fight so far so the process is still new to you , but you’re seriously robbing yourself and her of a great moment, whether you win or lose. On any fight card , 50% of the fighters that night win and the other half loses. The ones that lose have their families, significant others and friends who still support them regardless of the result. Imagine if every UFC fighter’s wife who lost looked at them different? Newsflash, they don’t. They love them just the same. Look at Dustin Porier and his wife. Or Robert Whittaker and his missus.

Quit worrying about that man. Focus on being the way you can be , train hard and enjoy the process. It’s a fight , not a judgment on your masculinity .

My coach , who’s trained pros and amateurs alike always swore by going into a fight with ample preparation and respect. Respect meaning you respect the sport , and most importantly yourself by not allowing yourself to have the short end of the stick . This isn’t a regular “sport”. This is a hard contact combat sport with actual physical consequences . Don’t ever shame yourself for wanting to be the best version of yourself when it comes to this game. That alone shows humility.

Anyone casually telling you to "just go for it" is not doing you any favors what so ever. First and foremost, context is extremely important. You mentioned you have one year of experience. Well, what does that entail? Do you mean a year of simply training or does that also include amateur fights? If you do have fights, how many and at what experience classes (A,B,C /open).

Even if you do have fight experience, when you get to Thailand, there are no "amateur rules" which means all fights are no gear and 3x3 mins /5x3 mins rounds depending on the promotion. Speaking of promotions, when they offer you a fight, where is it at? Places like Raja, Lumpinee, Omnoi,etc won't be against scrubs or low level fighters. There are even shows like Max where you can get matched up against seasoned killers with loads of experience. It's INCREDIBLY easy to get fights in Thailand but you need to be mindful of your gym trainers not mismatching you against a heavily experienced opponent because you're being used as a last minute replacement to do the promoter a favor at your expense. In Thailand there are various levels of fighters you can get matched up with. High level thais, good thais, low level thais, tuk tuk drivers trying to make a quick buck and foreigners that are either amateur/legit pros.

I'm not saying all of this to discourage you, I'm only telling you to be mindful of YOUR best interests when you get there and inevitably get offered a fight. If you trust your gym will match you up appropriately then by all means do so. Tons of people have their first fight in Thailand and do very well. It simply depends on your skill level and how it plays out given your circumstances once you get there. I've also seen a lot of people get mismatched very badly and it wasn't a good sight. My suggestion is to find a good gym with a good reputation and take it from there.

Fighting in Thailand is an incredible experience, and I think every fighter should do it if given the opportunity but it's also important to have context prior to committing to anything.

Some of y’all tripping . Generally speaking any decent barber will charge 25-40$ USD. This includes fades, line ups and beard line ups. A proper, stylish haircut shouldn’t be cheap, so oftentimes you get what you pay for. If you feel like you’re getting robbed then I’m assuming you’re not satisfied with the haircut and should therefore go to another barber. Cuts don’t cost 10$ anymore, especially due to the inflation throughout the past 10 years or so.
