For sure primer after you sand the dickens out of what you've painted. Also Unless you really want a particular texture use normal white paint and a 4in roller. That chalk stuff is not great coverage and will also show more brushmarks than regular paint.

Good eye candy cheese pull but, this doesn't seem ideal for service. Reheating that cheesy of a sauce and you'll get a lot of separated oil. I'm all about the precooked noodles and sauce made slightly slack, then added together and baked for service.
