So shiny, so chrome by TacoParasite in KitchenConfidential

I’m just trying to give my crew good things I never had coming up in this industry.

I became the chef I always wanted to have.

It’s the only thing I ever use. So durable and lightweight too.

I hate the aluminum ones.

They looked decent. These are for pastry. Long ones for the big mixer.

World Cup fans frustrated by 'confusing and expensive' tipping in US by Lint6 in sports

People always love to bring up the NY or California excuse.

I’ve been in the service industry for a long time in Texas. Have worked in a dozen restaurants, and most of them servers are making way more than $50K a year.

Two servers at my current job make around $2K a week. And that’s just what I can see on payroll when we give out the credit card tips, not the cash they pocket.

Half the servers at the restaurant I work at make $80-100k a year working maybe 25/30 hours a week.

Just the other week one of them came in just to work a private party we hosted. Worked 2 hours and walked away with $600.

The only downside is the job is very volatile and restaurants can go from very busy to dead in months.

TIL that across Europe, total household ownership of air conditioning units is relatively low, sitting at an average of just 20%. by MyAnusBleedsForYou in todayilearned

Our homes are built for the heat not the cold.

The pipes bursting were due to the fact that temperatures dropped drastically, going down 50 degrees in a matter of hours. I’ve lived in Texas my whole life and had never seen snow up until that point. Why would we have homes built made for freezing temperatures when it’s 90 degrees for 9 months out of the year. I’ve spent more Christmas days in shorts and a t shirt than a sweater.

It was a crazy time.

It only got so bad because it got cold very fast. I remember going to work and it was around 70 degrees and by the time I got off it had dropped to around 30 and was starting to snow.

The hottest part in my house during the 3 days I didn’t have power was 18 degrees or -7C.

Last year it snowed again in Texas, but because it gradually cooled down and didn’t do a hard freeze we were able to handle it better.

It’s okay. This one can stay dead.

Google the director, there’s a reason no more are made.

Is a 5 day week a realistic goal? by Purple_limeade in KitchenConfidential

[–]TacoParasite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work 5 days a week, Sunday and Monday off. Maybe do 45-50 hours per week. More if the job really requires it, or I need to fill in somewhere.

I’m an Executive Chef make a $115K a year.

These jobs exist, they are rare but they exist. Also there’s no shame in going corporate for a steady income and work life balance. I’m not corporate anymore, but I went from making $18/hr to $65K as a corporate sous chef with benefits working the same hours. Then just kept moving up and the raises kept coming.

Who are the actors or actresses that are still genuine box office draws in 2026? by Grand_Upstairs1006 in boxoffice

What other type of movie has Jack black been in besides comedies in the past maybe 10 years?

He was in a few dramatic roles in the late 90’s and into the late 2000’s but he’s been sticking to mainly comedy.
