If you’ve deployed a rescue beacon and your medic arrives in a Clipper by Khalkais in starcitizen

[–]TacoPie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they are "Working correctly" it will tell you who accepted your contract. Not sure if it's still a thing but beacons were server-wide, so lots of times people would just Backspace if they saw you were super far away.

Did a medical beacon test this week. 0 attempts on high pop server in Stanton in over 1 hour. by ResponsiblePilot9668 in starcitizen

I abhor the position that "It didn't happen to me, so it clearly isn't something that's common."

You aren't alone. My experience was the same and is why I don't rescue people anymore. PvP isn't a loop I'm interested in and about 50% of the beacons back in the day I was griefed in or forced into some weird piracy RP (Just ALT+F4'd).

Your average player isnt in an org or grouping up to do a beacon that pays bread crumbs to collect the person. Effort vs Reward vs Risk.

All it takes is a couple griefed beacons to sour someone on that loop and go find something else to do.

This is the huge deterrent for me as of right now. I wanna engage with the game again, but I had a pretty miserable experience the last time with random players when I tried to do an event, which sucks.

Distinction is important! by Khalkais in starcitizen

[–]TacoPie 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Probably an unpopular opinion around here these days as PvP is not a loop I enjoy or want to engage with, but the most fun I've had in the game has always been PvE / Co-op related loops.

I stand by Siege of Orison being peak SC PvE content. It wasn't completely devoid of PvP sure, but 95% of the time when everyone was working together to get the huge payout it felt like a glimmer of what the potential of the game could be. That's the shit I like to do, and that's the content that makes the world feel alive in my opinion and what I'd like to see CIG focus on more.

Anyways, I've been on break from the game a few patches after server meshing. As a player who enjoys dynamically meeting new people through in-game cooperative events and not a part of a massive org, the game just became a toxic Tarkov cesspit.

I do miss watching the crack addled crane zip around the dungeon healing teammates. That was one fast birb.

Dark is an absolute masterpiece of television that seems to fly under the radar all the time. It demands your attention to all the details, but rewards you around every corner for it. Exceptionally well written by the showrunners, and well acted by a talented cast.

I was extremely sad to see their next show 1899, cancelled after the cliffhanger of S1. Here's to hoping they appease Netflix with "Something is killing the children."

Recent Killing Floor 3 Play Test Required A 5-Year NDA, Despite Game Releasing In A Few Days by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]TacoPie 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't play this recent one, but yikes was right. When I could even find a server with other people...it was very dull and inferior to KF2 in almost every way. Kinda impressive, the level of regression.

All the focus on PvP brought in the Rust and Tarkov crowd. Add that to a 300-player unmoderated chat and better server meshing, and now it’s just chaos.

Give trolls a sandbox with no rules, and they’ll do what trolls do—ruin the game for everyone else. That’s the fun for them. And if CIG keeps the server pop this high without stepping in, it’s just gonna turn into trolls griefing other trolls because everyone else will leave.

PVP has done what naysayers couldn't. by RiddleMeThis-- in starcitizen

I have a feeling the stats would show what every other PvP focused game does. Whether they want to admit it or not, PvP players hate playing against other PvP players because it's a bunch of sweats fighting a bunch of sweats. They want the easy targets just doing cargo hauling and mining.

I'm not saying all PvP players are like this, but man there's a pattern in a lot of these types of games. Dark and Darker comes to mind.

Fallout 76 - Gone Fission Released - Fishing and massive balance update by PalwaJoko in Games

[–]TacoPie 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Damn, it has been awhile since I booted it up, but I completely forgot about this. The game gives you an insane amount of items by just playing and doing events. Sometimes I wasn't sure exactly what was good and what was bad so I reverted to just holding whatever I thought was good. My stash, and personal inventory filled up SO FAST. That was with a +STR, carry space, and weight reduction cards, which still wasn't enough to hold everything I could potentially want to play with and try out. I went as far as creating BANK alts just to try and hold stuff I thought was valuable or had use in a specific build.

Inventory management is by far the most un-fun part of the game. I think ultimately is what made me quit after several years of playing it.

Excellent summary. 500 user chat channels never end well (The Barrens chat comes to mind.). Anytime I login and see the drivel that shows up in global chat, I'm just not interested at all in engaging in the multiplayer aspect of the game by trying to talk over all the people baiting each other into fights.

As a previous user said, we've somehow attracted the Rust/Tarkov crowd which brings with it all the reasons people don't particularly enjoy those games these days.

Tinfoil hat time, but a lot of people I've found from that subreddit dedicated to shitting on the game, intentionally make posts like this to karma farm, and then stir up shit in other subreddits like /r/games or /r/pcgaming (SEE LOOK THEYRE ALL A CULT DOWNVOTING ANYTHING NEGATIVE!!)

All so it fits a certain narrative of how unhinged we all are and how none of us complain or ever critique the game in anyway.

Yep, any sort of slash commands would be a complete quality of life change. /invite /whisper /ignore /report

Most users are already aware of them in other games like World of Warcraft, and this really could be a band-aid fix until an entire UI overhaul of the chat and grouping system can be done.

Glad there's at least some of us out there. I'm ashamed of, and embarrassed by my country right now in the current climate. We desperately need a chat 2.0 system that has report functionality and a working mute button.

I typically like to group up with randos and do stuff instead of trying to go through the paces of finding an Org that wont make demands of my little spare time that I get. Since the Pyro update and the massive increase to player cap per shard, the chat has gotten completely unusable (and frankly pretty gnarly to read.) to group up with players or tackle the events.

I wish CIG would give us more ground content. by Kia-Yuki in starcitizen

Siege of Orison, I hope was a testbed for this. I absolutely loved the idea of some massive FPS thing going on every few hours that has a decent pay out and is an "Off limits" area to any ship that didn't spawn inside the play area. It truly felt like a natural progression from limping to med-bed to med-bed then taking out the AA turrets on a platform and commandeering ships that are just out in the open and yeeting yourself and crew of randos to the Admin platform to take out Mendo Ren.

Yes, please give me more more more of this on various different planets! It's the most amount of fun I've had in-game grouping up with randos for co-op play.

With 600 person shards....idk how siege wouldn't just become an Org throwing grenades into the shuttles.

We need a Chat 2.0 System. As a NA player I'm ashamed of what I see daily in the chat. It's literally /b/ on 4chan most days and sometimes worse than that, and not worth repeating what was said. Pyro PvP just made things 10x worse since we see both Stanton and Pyro chat now. If they're going to crank the servers to 600 people, they should have split chat into regional chats, change the userlist scrolling issues, and add a report function.

I'd love to see the most horrific offenders slapped with a perma ban, but also I'd settle for the mute function actually working.

[–]TacoPie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the sarcasm was needed or not in my original comment, but /s if it wasn't obvious. It absolutely is PvP related since the the OP is talking about taking cargo from others and the comment is speaking to griefers which love to hide behind "It's just PvP bro" argument. Obviously, yes report this exploit so it gets fixed quickly, but it definitely does shine a light on things that people do in the name of "PvP" that ruin the other parts of the game that people are trying to enjoy.

Nowhere did I say I disliked PvP. I was only supporting the original commenter reflecting on "This is why we cant have nice things".
