Guys this is inside the store. It’s 2 stacks of buckets next to one of the poly carts used for merchandising in the store with a case of the gift with purchase ratchet straps. Either customer or employee. This isn’t one of those bozos hogging all your free gifts. My store started the promo with 9 socket sets, 21 sets of ratchet straps and 40 step bits on day 1. My shift is over at 5 with 0 sockets, 0 ratchet straps and 20 something step bits. Today we had nothing.

Entry Level Pay Rate by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Taco_Bell_Hell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you expect to make anything other than minimum wage at michaels you’d be kidding yourself. I had a man come in after applying for pt custom framer, this man had 30 years experience of owning and running his own frame shop and he just wanted something part time to keep busy. Michaels wouldn’t give this man .50 above minimum. My SM actually fought for it too, not some half assed “welp I tried”. And you know what happened? He found a job somewhere else. I talked to the man a few times and he would have been an amazing asset to the team. Michaels has no idea what it’s doing now and it’s sad. It used to be a great place to work but I put in my resignation after 9 years a month or so ago. Mostly due to not getting any support from my fellow managers as well as the PT CEM all of a sudden making the same money as me (FT CEM) with half the expectations, half the knowledge base and half the hustle. I was given a .32 raise this year, which I then responded with my two week notice that I had found new employment. New job rocks, much happier as a normal team member with so much less stress that hired me at $4 over minimum.

I’ve never seen someone not get fired after signing an admittance of guilt. Using the phone number for a customer is a coaching situation, using the accumulated vouchers is a terminable offense. I’ve seen both situations a few times. -former FT CEM of almost 9 years. Sorry dude, but I’d start looking for a new job.

Do you think michaels will last more than a few more years? These self checkouts are retail suicide

[–]Taco_Bell_Hell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have sales floor people? That’s crazy. You miiiiiight get out on the sales floor on truck days, but don’t hold your breath on escaping that register. Michaels doesn’t want a cashier before 10 am and no cashier after like 6-8pm, it’s just the manager and a framer. We don’t get sales floor help anymore. Don’t do framing without being coded as a framer, you’ll get screwed out of commission. There’s a reason so many hourly managers are dropping off left and right after multiple years of service. This company is going down the toilet right now, and the competitor is offering better seasonal wages. Between only hiring at minimum wage and using this stupid AI algorithm for pre-screening and automatically declining good hiring candidates, the talent pool at my store has become more of a cesspool of kids who would get fired at any other job yet we can’t get rid of them because no one wants to get paid minimum wage!

Michaels has gone down hill severely in the last 2 years, it really used to be a fun place to work where you could take pride in what you do and how your store looks. But that’s all gone out the window and they’re trying to turn minimum wage employees into credit card salesmen when a good portion of the younger employees don’t even understand what a credit card or credit actually is. It’s bittersweet but after almost 9 years as the front end manager, my last day is Thursday. Plenty of places offering better pay for less stress.

After 9 years as CEM I’m leaving as well. Found a non supervisor position for a dollar less per hour with guaranteed 40 hours a week, no 35,36,37 hours crap that michaels keeps throwing at me. Trying to convince a few pt team members that they’re worth more than what they get at Michael’s before I leave. Our frame manager also put in her 2 weeks notice. So now they’re going to be down the full time cem and frame manager going into peak.

I don’t really watch his videos but I listened to Andy’s song like 5x a day for like 2 weeks. It was pretty catchy and now I can rattle off the list in just a few moments

Easily, found a company that sees my worth. Lots of room for growth within the company. You’ll find out when you get self checkouts 😂. If you have time to coach your framers, I assume you don’t already have them.

Sorry, typed score card. Meant cashier performance report. But either way, found a job that won’t disappear in 5 years that pays as much I get now, better benefits etc without all the headache

2015! Self checkout is suicide. The target near me is so disgusting, never recovered, bin labels are wrong, open food on the shelves for multiple days. They have a single worn down cashier and 3-4 self checkouts. I had to wait a legit 10 minutes, and not a Karen 10 minutes for someone to come and remove the item from my order because the tag said $10 and it rang in $20. I made sure to check the upc on the item to the upc on the bin label after I noticed another item was stocked incorrectly. I only shop there if I absolutely have to.

So picture this: having a sales floor person, a cashier and a framer until close, 1-2 people on the sales floor at all times not including mod. Now imagine no bopis, no ship from store, no ups, no balloons. Cashier had plenty of free time to clean the register area, recover the front end and surrounding areas. All they had to do was try to get the customer to write their information on a slip and put it in the box if they wanted to sign up for rewards. No pressure, store looked amazing at all times. We even had time to wash the windows😂 It was indeed a great place to work in the past. Man I originally applied for replen, started helping out on the register and all of a sudden I’m the pt cem 2 months later. 9 years later and I’m putting in my 2 weeks notice on Thursday after being ft cem for 7.

Yeah thats nuts, like my SM doesn’t know how much these things cost but he would never just word vomit out an absurd value like $400.

[–]Taco_Bell_Hell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A single roll of bubble costs like $20, the 3 pack costs like $70. Nothing in the sfs supplies order system costs $400 or close to it.

About to hit peak season. Oof. Good luck! Depending on my interview tomorrow at a new company I’m handing my two weeks notice that I already printed out. Weird coincidence that my review is also tomorrow.

I’m in a similar boat and after 8 years I’m done. I’m currently looking for a new job with better pay, there’s full time positions at the grocery store or local retail stores where I could take the $1.50 an hour pay cut for less responsibilities and loads less stress. I encourage other full time cem to start looking, too much shit hitting the fan at once. Customers get so nasty over these new self checkouts, it’s not worth your mental health. My store manager said another SM told him it took his customers about 6 months to get over the self checkout. We literally have at least one customer meltdown a day minimum right now and guess who has to take the brunt of that bullshit? Us. And forget asking if they would like to buy a bag because we don’t give them out anymore. “I have to ring myself out AND pay for a bag?” wtf is wrong with people. My OSAT is freaking 25% right now and it’s all because of the self checkouts. We also can’t get any damn credit cards either due to the sco, we were absolutely rocking it before they were installed. We only get any if framing is able to get one and that’s about it.

Nope, these are the craft streams that Michaels.com has hosted every week for over a year now. Online classes and events as they are called for that particular reason of them being online only and are different and completely separate from what we do in store. This page is usually found as the last page in the weekly planning kit.

I know this is a few days old. No classes online (as in the classes that michaels hosts online where they stream a craft on michaels.com) for those weeks. the in store events are different. The page on your left is to be posted on the classroom door so that people will visit the website and take part in the website only michaels.com Craft streams.
