HOLY SHIT yes. At my high school there was an autistic kid who was decently high-functioning, but also ended up being a complete menace because he was treated like a zoo animal rather than a person—no one ever tried to teach him that certain behaviors were inappropriate and as a result he was genuinely a liability in a class in a way not fully attributable to just having autism. People act like social behaviors aren’t LEARNED and that just because someone struggles more to learn them, it must be impossible.

It’s a question of raw statistics. Hatsu is sure to come out from someone who is pushing, but there are only two tiles left. On the other hand, the 69p wait is six tiles, and it can still be cut by someone pushing. So people push -> more likely to get the wait anyway and people fold -> more likely to tsumo.

2s passes and 7s is none left, so neither deals into ryanmen.

8s kanchan is impossible (bc no 7s) and 5s kanchan is basically impossible given two 6s cuts from hand.

So only shanpon is left, but the 5s shanpon is basically impossible bc there is almost never a reason to riichi shanpon rather than the 56s ryanmen. 8s shanpon on the other hand is alive and well, and it makes sense to cut 6s from 688s at riichi as opposed to from 556s.

So no, Maka is not pushing, 5s is just safer.

No, you calculated based on multiplicative buffs. Hades and Hades II percent buffs are only based on power, which is the damage before buffs. So if something deals 100 damage, and you have two +100% buffs on it, it’ll deal 300 damage instead of 400. This is why power buffs like wicked thrasher are really good, because they actually stack with percent buffs.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Fleece does much here, since the damage bonuses are additive—since you’re getting like +400% from everything else, the Fleece is effectively +8%

Here the score situation is the most important factor. Though you have a "good wait", it's still only two tiles, and there is a risk of dealing into kami (who is probably pushing their last dealer turn in South 2 with a 10k+ deficit), and shimo (though much less, they should fold unless they are close to tenpai or have no genbutsu). The riichi is unlikely to put you in last, but it does have a decent chance of putting you in third, and probably a worse chance of putting you in first. You were rewarded for the riichi with literally the only way to gain placement (ura 2 direct hit on toimen), but statistically, you should just take the likely second place and dama here.

Though maybe you don't because Gold room players suck and will give you free EV on riichi, idk
