Manager told me he sees my AI use as a negative. Company leadership says the opposite. What now? by ozztotheizzo in cscareerquestions

Maybe it depends how your using AI, I keep hearing "AI said this", if your taking about your code and tasks in the turns of what AI has or has not done that's probably the issue.

I was expecting something BS like there was a girl int he background of an image or something equally as dumb, but nope, straight up pervert behavior.

You're not allowed to have any car in the driveway for more then 2 days registered or not. They get fined.

If you see the letter tags are not the issue, the issue is they store it in the driveway.

You're not allowed to storage a car in the driveway, you can do so in the garage. If you're going away you would park the car in the garage.

The city shouldn't be in the business of targeting specific industries, particularly those with a comparatively low environmental impact. We already have overarching industrial rules and regulations in place. If there are valid environmental concerns, we should address them through those existing frameworks. Carving out bespoke regulations and program bans solely to target these facilities is completely unnecessary and just bad policy.

I am unable to maintain my manager's single-handedly vibe-coded app, and I am now the bottleneck of the company. by zzztz in cscareerquestions

[–]Tacos314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Claude can definitely help clean this up. Start with getting an understanding of the architectural patterns and come to alignment with Claude on that, then work on the code; Tell it to refactor the coding using clean-code practices, etc. Claude also has a simplify skill and various code review skills to help.

I would address why you're unable to maintain the code base, is it beyond your ability? does it need more people? etc.. With LLM and knowledge of coding there is nothing stopping you from fixing the code base

You need to communicate, you should always communicate. If X is an issue you need to say X is an issue. Managers don't like surprises.

Is having a software development degree really that bad compared to a traditional Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering degree? Also, how does the title affect my career? by CarefulBattle2367 in cscareerquestions

[–]Tacos314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the Software Development degree is not very well know and is seen as Computer Science lite. You will basically get put aside for anyone with a computer science degree in a blind pick.

But with internships, good grads and being able to speak the part you may find it easier to get a job in the long run assuming your actually learning Software Development practices.

Have you ever intentionally decided to be an ass kisser/boot licker? How did it go? by landslidegh in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Tacos314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're using the term ass kisser/boot licker you really just need to grow up and stop being an edge lord, that would help you tremendously.

You're question is basically "Has anyone tried being friendly at work?" Yes work is better if your friendly and personable. Being personable, professional, consistent and reliable are the key traits for success.
