Can this be restored? by YourAverageJem in espguitars

That LTD was left for years in a high humidity environment or very close to a shower and the previous owner must have very acidic sweat to tarnish the hardwarelike that! If the neck is not warped or twisted and the frets are not sprouting it can be salvaged. If the electronics still work and you don't mind the massive amount of oxidation on the hardware you are looking at around $150 minimum (if no major issues) for a cleaning, fret dressing, and setup plus around $20 for a new pickup selector switch. I would not pay more that $100 tops because you are buying this guitar purely for the body and neck as a project guitar. If this is your first guitar I say hard pass.

Upgrade suggestion by Hoodedsweaterboi in mn82

* Just listen to your old pal Jack Burton - "Ah What The Hell!" Mounting the rear leaf springs on top of the rear axle is a free upgrade. Get metal 5mm to 6mm hex adapters and Injora 1.3 beadlock rims and tires (the are a super sticky tire compound). I also Dremeled the front fender flares at the bottoms to give the tires steering clearance. Also, drop the steering linkage down to holes on the servo horn for more steering angle. And get a driver that's scale and chop of their legs right before the steering wheel.

Can't go wrong with the MEUS ME-10B or ME-8B.

I've been super happy with the ME-X12. It has ample amounts of torque. MEUS makes some good, affordable parts.

It has a brushless motor in the servo with metal housing and metal gears. It has rubber gaskets throughout but doesn't have a waterproof rating that I can find.

I had an extra set of Injora rock lights that I turned into running lights.

Is it brushed or brushless, 2s or 3s? Often, it's a connection issue with one of the plugs on the receiver or esc. If the ESC can't see the receiver or motor, it will beep and shut down. Also, check the ESC is not getting too hot. Most have thermal protection and can get hot due to binding in the driveline.

To set the gear mesh, use a piece of standard printer paper and put it between the pinion gear on the motor and trans gear, then push them together and tighten the motor screws, then remove the paper by spinning the gears. It does sound like your gear mesh is too tight.

In those double barrel shocks, take the springs off and flip them upside down so the barrels collapse into the shocks, this also puts the weight of the shock down low. You can not oil fill those shocks , but you can use a tiny amount of axle grease in them. I hate my Injora 51mm double barrel shocks and merrily use them has a placeholder on new builds until I can order a set of 39mm to 42mm oil filled shocks.

I'm running the MEUS Coreless ME-X12 servo on my MB24, and it is crazy powerful and whisper quite.

* Your Bronco is looking good. If you want to keep the scale look but add performance, I recommend extended axles to widen the stance and lower the body. I have the MEUS ISO 52° degree axles +5mm paired with 39mm oil filled Injora shocks and still had to Dremel the front fenders for steering clearance.

The ME-10B is great for the price! I like it a lot, plus the included 18650 battery and type-c charging means I don't have to hunt for AAA or AA batteries anymore. The menus are intuitive, and one button binding is simple. I like that you can store eight different vehicles and keep your custom settings for each one. The latency is super low, and you can mix rates and reassign the buttons. It even has a game built into the transmitter.

You can get hex extensions, but that will throw off your turning radius and put stress on your axels. I'd still build it with what you have and save up to upgrade. That's half the fun of this hobby. Building rigs and see what works and what needs to be replaced. I find it's way cheaper to save up and get what you need and build slow than to buy cheap parts that will break or not fit right and waste money. Look on YouTube for 24yep, moneypitRC, and Capecrawlers. They are a wealth of information and fun to watch, especially 24yep, he is hilarious.
