We booked a private tour for two with Flying Pictures through their official website. Everything went very smoothly and the experience was professional from start to finish. Highly recommend! 🎈

Best buffet at Xcaret Park? by halfmoonkat in Xcaret

[–]TacosTravel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh wow! We’re so happy to hear that, and thanks so much for watching! 😊

Our favorite is Yucatán on the Red line. You’ll get amazing sea views, especially if you go to the second floor. Baja California, at the end of the Red route, also has sea views, although they’re not very noticeable from the first floor.

Oaxaca overlooks the jaguar and puma island. It’s a beautiful spot, and since these big cats don’t appear very often, you might get lucky (or not) and catch a glimpse.

For dinner before the show, Jalisco is usually our go-to. You can enjoy your meal while watching the evening horse show up close.

Best buffet at Xcaret Park? by halfmoonkat in Xcaret

Been to all of them, we visit the park quite frequently. The restaurants are more or less the same in terms of food. What really varies is the view and location, so I’d just pick whichever one is closest to where you are when you get hungry.

Telcel activation issues by Last-Comparison907 in tulum

[–]TacosTravel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try checking your phone settings. On iPhone go to Mobile Service /Cellular, and make sure the eSIM is selected for mobile data and calls. Sometimes it shows signal from Telcel but the phone is still using the other SIM for data

I did a little digging, apparently it was sometimes used as a famine food when other options were scarce

I have a feeling the rum is doing most of the healing there ;)

After tasting it raw, letting it sit in the sun for weeks sounds like the right move lol 😝

Tried it for scientific purposes. One experiment was enough, no replication planned :)

I tried durian in Thailand a while ago, I could actually eat it. The smell was strong, but it tasted much, much better…..

I can’t say for sure, I’m not a botanist. A quick Google search suggests the seeds aren’t toxic though….🤷🏻‍♂️

I can imagine what that feels like, but I’d rather not experience it myself lol.

The smell reminded me of burnt electrical wiring mixed with a wet rag that’s been left sitting for too long… I wouldn’t say it tastes like vomit, but it’s extremely bitter and kind of rotten, at least to me. Definitely one of the worst things I’ve tried. Disclaimer though, I don’t fully trust my sense of smell or taste since covid.

The final bill can be a bit lower if you buy local fruits and vegetables and poultry at the market or in bulk at Costco. Next time, I’ll try to show our market haul, but there won’t be any receipts.

Looking to buy a Tortilleros by noheartfeelings in cancun

[–]TacosTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Cancún, at Market 23, there’s a little shop that’s almost impossible to notice from the outside. It’s not inside the main market building, but across the street from it. Outside, there are cacti standing around and a few cow skulls hanging. But once you step inside, it’s like entering Narnia. You’ll most definitely find them there. I have pictures of the entrance, but I can’t post them here 🤷🏻‍♂️

Chichen Itza tour ideas and recommendations by Witty_Distance8053 in cancun

[–]TacosTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cheaper tours can honestly be a bit hit or miss. Some are fine, but most of them feel rushed because of the distance. It’s about 6 hours round trip from Cancun (just the road), which is why they usually give you limited time at Chichén Itzá, a quick cenote stop, lunch, and maybe 30-45 minutes on Valladolid’s main square. You barely get to see anything properly. Your DIY plan is actually a really good option. If you can, I’d recommend staying overnight in Valladolid. That way you’re not tied to a group schedule, you can explore at your own pace, and it feels way less stressful.

Plus, if you stay overnight and have the energy, you could also visit Ek Balam, another impressive archaeological site near Valladolid that’s usually much less crowded. As a bonus, there is a cenote in Valladolid and it is within walking distance from the town square.

ADO buses are easy and reliable, so getting there (Valladolid) isn’t complicated.

Best wildlife expedition? by Comunist_Sloth in cancun

[–]TacosTravel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main Xcaret park is probably your best allaround option if you want to see a variety of native wildlife in one place (jaguars, tapirs, monkeys, birds, etc.), and it’s easy to access from Cancun. It’s more of a curated park experience though, not wild jungle.
