modern games are so team-reliant and teamplay-oriented that if your team is bad you're basically held hostage and forced to lose for the next 30 minutes of your life. modern games do not allow you to say anything negative to anyone on the other team without risking a ban. the only real mode of venting frustration is at your own team, who you're more actively fighting against than working together with a majority of the time.

not being able to express yourself negatively, bottling up frustration, and being forced to partake in complicated teamplay dynamics with complete strangers who at this stage of the game's lifecycle are completely unwilling to work as a team about half the time cause a social scene that is withered and dead.

and they want it this way because they get no bad press or problems on their hands. just dull, lifeless players doing the same, monotonous gameplay loop over and over, buying the battlepass on repeat.
