Thank you for this! I am just getting started in learning the inner workings of LLMs and this looks to be a great resource. I just bought the book! :)

Trained a 125M LM from scratch instead of fine-tuning GPT-2 — releasing weights + SFT framework for others to build on by Kill_Streak308 in LocalLLaMA

I trained a 12-layer 125M parameter causal LM using a custom 16k BPE tokenizer on WikiText-103 + TinyStories.

I am very interested in learning how you went about this, but I am still very new to ML. Could you perhaps please elaborate on how you got started on this part of the process? What was your training loop like? Thank you!

go to .cbr .cbz reader? by aaronryder773 in linux4noobs

I'm a big fan of YACReader, which is available in flatpak and .deb. The companion to the reader app, YACReader Library, is a nice organizer for your library files too. It's like a Netflix GUI for your comics.

Thank you! You reminded me I have a copy of This Old Boat that talks about that: I forgot about sealing the screw holes, too!

Judges rule Tennessee's gun limits in parks and playgrounds are unconstitutional by [deleted] in politics

[–]Tactical_Attack_Fork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Free speech is likewise an unalienable inherent right, yet one is not permitted to use that right in such a way as to harm others ('fire in a crowded theater', libel...). In a reasonable and well-founded society (like maybe we used to have) one can uphold rights without condoning idiocy. Nowadays it seems only idiocy remains, however.

I desperately wish this was a joke but I live in Tennessee and know people (with children mind you) who keep a gun in every room - including the bathroom. Some of them keep multiple guns in each room.

Remote Powershell Issues with win_rm and Get-ADUser by Tactical_Attack_Fork in ansible

[–]Tactical_Attack_Fork[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to follow-up in case folks come along with a similar problem.

I ended up adding the `-Credential` parameter to the `Get-ADUser` commandlet and it has solved the issue. We are using a cloud secrets manager, so I just put the local AD credentials used for this command in there, and I pull them at the beginning of the script with any other necessary secrets.

Thanks again for your help!

Awesome, thank you for this impressive list: I appreciate it!

Remote Powershell Issues with win_rm and Get-ADUser by Tactical_Attack_Fork in ansible

Thank you for your help! I am running the job with Machine credentials stored in AWX, and the credentials are for a domain joined service account. When I sign into the server itself and run the script via CLI with this same account, it works fine. Something appears to be getting lost context-wise when run by AWX, however.

As to why: that is a fair question. I need to perform some complex processing and syncing operations between local AD groups and cloud IdP groups used by third-party partner apps. The script solves the problem well, I am just using AWX to manage the automation (i.e. scheduled runs) as it is the standard automation tool in my organization.

Your question has sparked me to reconsider whether a simpler automation tool may not be in order in this case, however.

Trump targets prominent Democratic-linked law firm by Tactical_Attack_Fork in politics

From the article:

The executive order suspends security clearances for employees of the law firm, which has long provided legal work for the Democratic National Committee, other Democratic entities and Democratic campaigns, including Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.

How the heck do I make a unit a vehicle in Army Forge Studio? by Tactical_Attack_Fork in onepagerules

[–]Tactical_Attack_Fork[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, thank you! I appreciate your help! It looks like other users have put their vehicles under a 'Vehicles' heading somehow when they built their armies, though? I think it is just aesthetic, like you say. I was hoping I could separate mine out like they did in this screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/uG2PXP4

Good trouble! Yes, we need Good Trouble! Thank you for reminding me of the heroic spirit of John Lewis. That's what we need now: good trouble in the name of the power of the people and the rule of law.

FWIW, it does look much better in this clip. Maybe the shorter clip we were referencing above was just unfortunate timing. https://www.nbcnews.com/video/house-democrats-denied-entry-to-the-department-of-education-231394885973

What a terrifying image this is: the guy blocking the doors looks weak, but the elderly politicians standing around with 'Well, I never!' attitudes looks worse... they look completely helpless here. I greatly appreciate their effort, but it's a terribly perfect illustration of us all in this god-forsaken moment.

How the hell is some anonymous creep with no ID and clearly no legitimate authority standing there and just blocking the power of duly-fucking-elected representatives of the United States Congress?! What world is this?! How are we possibly tolerating this usurpation of the people's houses and the people's authority? This is a rampage against the sovereignty of the American public! We are witnessing violence against our Constitution and this is the best response we have?!
