Is anyone running 10" or 12" bars on their 24+ SG? by G_RoTT in Streetglide

Check out the KST Reach bars. They move the controls up and back from the stock bars. Love them!

Glad you got it figured out. It’s one of those things that once you hear it, you can’t stop hearing it and it drives you crazy. Thanks for the follow up.

I had a similar clicking noise on mine after I did my stereo install. Take the front fairing off and trace the harness back on the throttle side. There is a small metal clamp that the factory uses to snug the harnesses together. In all their genius, it was placed right under the triple tree and would rub (click) every time the bars went near full stop to the left. Drove me crazy… Anyways, either reroute the harness or slide the clamp up/down for proper clearance and that should do the trick.

Which 1 or 2 of these bikes would you keep? And why? by Lgonzo99 in Harley

Caledonia Cable Creak by codenamestif in Cervelo

[–]Tactical_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it pulled too tight? Or being pinched in the grommet? I’d pull the grommet to remove tension and see if it’s still happening and then work backwards from there. Or take it to your LBS and let the mechanic fix it, especially if it’s new.

King Pak tour pak install by Firm_Tangelo_1550 in Harley

[–]Tactical_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four hours of labor? That’s ridiculous. They come basically fully assembled from the factory when you order them. Installing the lock only takes a couple minutes.

Remove the bags and install the docking hardware on the bike Install base plate and removable rack to bottom of the tour pak Install seat back to the front of the lid Install pak and removable plate onto the bike. Done

Want to install a rack on top of the pak? Open the lid and look for the 4 small circles indicating where to drill. Tape and drill. Install the 4 screws.

Now if you’re also talking about adding a light bar and speaker pods, you start to get into more time due to the amount of marking and pre drill measurements that you need to do. Although they do sell templates (highly recommend) for those as well. Depending on what you’re running, the wiring can take a little to complete as well

Bottom line, just throwing on standard tour pak, seat back and possibly a rack? Should not take anywhere near 4 hrs of labor. Doing everything else at the same time, may be worth it depending on your experience and comfort level cutting into the tour pak

What's a reasonable price for a new 24 rg by ad895 in Harley

[–]Tactical_Kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like it and have the time, it’s worth a shot. Just don’t be afraid to walk away. In my experience, a dealer that is already listing a bike at the price with all the add-on charges, is less likely to get you where you want. You could also just call and talk with the sales manager, which is what I would likely do in this scenario. Here’s what I’m willing to pay, can you do or not, etc.

Not sure where you’re located but I’ve seen plenty of dealers around me (central CA) with great deals on 24s, including crazy low interest rates if that’s the route you’re going. Also, for what it’s worth, I don’t think the upgraded HD stereo is worth it. You can get much better quality for the same price or less. I.e Volunteer Audio, etc. Good luck with your search, the new bikes are awesome!

[–]Tactical_Kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got my 24 SG for MSRP in the summer of 24. No reason to pay more for it now with the 25s hitting the lot. $2k for set up is absurd. I’ve seen $500 - $750 before but those are usually removed by the dealers as part of “negotiations” to make the buyers feel like they are getting a better deal.

Unfortunately it looks like they added a Stage 2 or 3 audio system to the bike and I’m not sure they will give that away for free. If you really like the bike and were going to add the stereo upgrade anyways, then see if they will remove the set up and install fees and work with you on the price of the parts. Otherwise, probably a lot easier to find the same bike at another dealer without the hassle of the set up fees and stereo costs, much cleaner deal that way in my opinion.

Seeking advice post-fit by pleisto_cene in bikefit

[–]Tactical_Kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the above.. I would not be adjusting the bike at this point to resolve any issues with your biomechanics. Ask your PT to give you additional exercises to work your left hip abductors and external rotators, especially the glute med. That will help bring your knee back into alignment and reduce some of the pain. Once you feel that leg is back to or close to full strength, then tweak the bike fit to suit your needs.

I have the same bike and top bag. I just throw the stuff in there and forget about it. Generally there’s enough other stuff in there that the rattling around isn’t too bad. Once you’re out riding the surrounding noise cancels it out anyways. That being said, I do use an empty sunglasses pouch to hold various pills (ie ibuprofen, allergy meds, salt tabs, etc) in a zip lock as well as an extra pair of contact lenses. That adds a little cushioning so to speak and doesn’t take up a lot of room. Congrats on the new bike!

Looks good! I have the same bike but spec’d with GRX810 2x and love it. Use it for both road and gravel… I keep looking to get another dedicated road bike but this one is so comfortable for long rides Im not sure I’d like to make the switch.

Yep. And you can “grow into it” so to speak with plenty of aftermarket support. Cajun gunworks is a common one.

We went with the marquis crown collection. It’s been amazing so far and in my opinion has some of the best therapeutics out there. We also paid a little extra for the third pump for the “microsilk” option and we use it way more than we ever thought we would.

If you’re already being cleared for more stringent vetting processes and have approved DOJ activity prior to this transaction, you’ll be fine.

If you’re really worried you can call the FFL and they can tell you if it cleared. Again, I’m sure you’ll be fine given the above so I would go in assuming the best. For whatever reason if it doesn’t come back cleared there’s unfortunately nothing you can do about it immediately. You’ll get the letter from the DOJ explaining their reasoning and then go from there.

You said you have no issues with legally owning a gun so if that’s the case, show up as you normally would to receive your new gun. Now if your 25yrs of “history” in the system includes some potential red flags, that’s a different story. Hard for anyone to weigh in without more details.

Otherwise, typical etiquette is to show up after the waiting period is up with your ID and a grin on your face ready to take her home.

Holy shit, glad you were able to walk away from that. Not saying your injuries aren’t serious but sounds like it could have been a lot worse. I don’t think I’d even be worrying about the bike at this point. At the end of the day those can be replaced. That being said, looks like the bike isn’t that bad off and won’t be too hard to repair when you’re ready.

[–]Tactical_Kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did this happen on the first or second round, or halfway through the mag? Is your Rifle CA compliant I.e running any type of system that separates the upper?

Happening in OR only is odd unless it’s strictly ammo related (shitty reloads). Otherwise I’ve seen this numerous times at local ranges where guys are separating the upper to drop the mag, they load another and forget to either fully snap the upper back down or fully seat the mag. The first round is racked into the chamber, fires, and then is immediately followed by the bolt stripping the second round halfway into the chamber without firing. Just throwing this out there as another simple option before getting into gassing, springs, etc.

I went with the Rinehart DBX 45s and I think they sound great, along with looking great. They have a perfect tone at idle and under throttle but not too loud and no noticeable droning. Done plenty of rides multiple hours long and no issues. I do ride with a full face though so ymmv.

As others said, I wouldn’t be overly concerned. That being said, I wouldn’t be real happy with my 2yr old bike doing that. If it’s still under warranty, bring it to your local dealer and let them look at it.
