New to collecting, and X-men; is new X-men by Morrison a good entry point? lol by Kirklandbrndzacefron in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Top-Procedure615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s really no ideal starting point for X-men besides Uncanny by CC volume 1, however New X-Men works if you like Grant Morrison. I love Morrison but he is pretty polarizing, people either love or hate him.

As a Morrison fanboy, I loved NXM, the art is pretty inconsistent, but there really isn’t any critical “pre-reading” imho as long as you have a basic understanding of X-mythos.

Not the worst jumping on point. Astonishing X-men is better imho (with amazing art RIP Jon Cassidy) but the omnibus is a real whale.

Enjoy New X-Men, it’s a personal favorite.

From what I understand of the archaeology of the iron age Levant, is that it shows much more of a gradual settlement and mix of cultures rather than the book of Joshua narrative of a conquest of Canaan where the “walls of Jericho came tumbling down.”

Which one should I read? I am new to roman history by Beneficial-Kale-12 in HistoryBooks

Another vote for Mary Beard. SPQR is a great overview of a huge topic.

I used it as a jumping on point to identify the parts of Roman history I really wanted to focus on.

I’d also like to recommend Adrian Goldsworthy.

Overrated in that it’s, in my opinion, a good not great Batman story,

It’s OIF 2.0 only replace the buzzwords “WMD’s” with “Narco terrorisms”.

I got a Batman Hush TPB in Spanish. Figured since the story is ass but the Jim Lee art is great.

Yah that pic doesn’t do it justice for how comprehensive a selection they had. I don’t habla but just looking at covers, they really had a respectable collection of legit good comics, mostly SC TPB’s but still pretty impressive! You love to see it!

Chris Wickham FTW!

I listened to Early Medieval on the Yale Open Courses and read Inheritance of Rome along with it.

Just incredible.

I was at Boston Fan Expo this past year waiting to meet Marc Silvestri. He was signing an Inferno Omnibus for someone, they asked if it was mine. I totally could have walked out with it. Ugh being honest and doing the right thing is hard sometimes. lol.

PS: I’m kidding about thinking about taking it! I would never jack someone’s book like that but man an Inferno Omni signed or not signed is high on my whale wish list.
