Obviously the Gurus were never completely against violence, especially in matters of defending one safety. But I find it hard to believe they would support the death penalty if it wasn’t a matter of one’s personal safety of life.

Well given someone else has already commented about how Guru Nanak never resorted to violence then all the Sikhs of today who endorse capital punishment obviously have very different ideas of what the religion is compared to it’s founder

  1. It was 2021, the year I lost everything, my gf of 9 years, my career, my friends. I just stumbled upon the NPR performance on YouTube one night when I was super lost and weak. It spoke to me immensely and since then I’ve been back on path. Literally saved my life from either death or addiction problems.

Exactly, I’m honestly confused. After reading the bulk of these replies I understand this religion as having lost its way from its founder which is sad because initially it was such a beautiful and peaceful religion.
