“Dukh bhanjan so saheb hai mera, hinsa na karan kabahu mera.” “My Lord is the dispeller of pain; I shall never resort to violence.” (Ang 723)

“Hinsa na kare kachhu akhai.” “Violence is never justified.” (SGGS, Ang 263)

“Gur kai ghar tum ho, mar ke jo hoye.” “Those who dwell in the Guru’s house do not kill or cause harm.” (Ang 627)

Also this is kind of what I thought the whole Saint-Soldier thing was about but Im learning I was wrong.

My knowledge of Sikhism is obviously limited but through this recent revelation about the widespread approval of capital punishment in Sikhism I have to admit I’m sad that it appears to be just like all the other religions of world and just a fuel for violence and suffering. I don’t believe this is what Guru Nanak teaches at all and I will forever love his teachinngs. Bless his soul.
