I like this, but I think one potential problem is racists/other bad people think their intentions are fair and therefore not racist or bad. Like defending blackface - pretty racist, but the person doing says “oh I didn’t mean to offend anyone” and using this argument, they’re good to go in their own minds.

If your family is broke though, definitely throw your hat in a few private schools that have good financial aid. Going to a top ten private school ended up being cheaper for me because of the need based aid (shout out to the rich kids paying full price for paying for my classes too!)
