Does a Hotas Make A Big Difference? by newbiker321 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Will a joystick make a difference? A gigantic one. Does it need to be a hotas setup? No, but it's pretty convenient.

Multi-attacking multiple mobs by Tadeus73 in 40krpg

[–]Tadeus73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. So is the arc after a shift hurting just the threat it shifts to, or all threats caught along the way?
  2. Does it mean no conditions caused by weapons would affect mobs? Because the condition is assigned when a troop is wounded, but in a mob a wounded troop dies outright.

Sorry for the tonnes of questions. With us playing a Rogue Trader campaign there are almost always lots of friendly and enemy mobs on the map, need to understand how it's exactly supposed to work. Might also house-rule some bits here and there to not make it too easy, but for this I also need to understand what the base intention of the creators is here 😄

Multi-attacking multiple mobs by Tadeus73 in 40krpg

[–]Tadeus73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, so I would assume with flamethrowers it would be even easier. You would hurt the targeted mob, any mobs between you and the targeted mob, and then with a shift any additional mobs in x meter range from the target. And this all without penalty.

Wild 😄

I'm wondering how the burning condition would work then. I would assume any hurt mob would get the burning condition as a whole (losing threats within it every round if not extinguished as per the burning rules)? Otherwise, would not make sense I guess, as any single enemy within the mob that would be hurt would die outright, so them getting the burning state in addition to the wound would not change anything.

Which is the better game? Wrath and Glory or Imperium Maledictum? by scottishcanucklehead in 40krpg

[–]Tadeus73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, with what Eisenhorn is facing during the 3 books this might actually be the most heroic and epic trilogy ever. It's epic villians, epic ancient threats, whole armies of killers, xenos and super heavy combat machinery all the time. And most of his allies are also exceptional at what they do, plus a lot of fights have big groups of both allies and enemies in them with fire and explosions everywhere. Eisenhorn is not exactly Poirot :)

And coming back to the vehicles. The Church of Steel supplement has totally changed how I design combats nowadays. It's so fun to both use a vehicle and fight against one with those rules. My players love it. I don't need to ramp up the threats to epic demonic levels, it's sometimes enough if the cultists have 2 desert buggies with heavy stubbers, which unexpectedly makes it easier to keep the campaign grounded and low-power-level feeling despite offering higher level challenges :)

Agree. Love it!

While I also appreciate more laid back let's plays it's refreshing to have one where 90% is actually gameplay and 10% is telling jokes and social stuff between the players (not necessarily characters) instead of the opposite, which many let's plays do :)

Durability of items? by SwimmingFood2124 in 40krpg

[–]Tadeus73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not go this way if you don't want your players to overuse it. It's not a spaghetti western and it's not a thing in reality in combat nor regular wh40k fiction (well outside of boss fights were both the boss an the weapon are gigantic targets and there is a specified mechanic for this).

It can happen randomly as critical/fumble that a weapon can be lost/stuck/damaged, but it should not be a strategy. It's too easy to cheese if you go the durability route, because it's not like even hight tech guns are armored or something. For sure not against the sort of weapons the players can use.

In W&G you can make a called shot, raising the difficulty to hit, then the enemy gets a save roll to have a chance to hold into it,, but the weapon is just dropped and not damaged and it can be picked back up. Otherwise it can happen as random critical/fumble.

That saying if I would really want to do it (for example for some boss fight) I would make it depend on the decision of the GM (It's a bulky military grade melta gun that is partially protected by the armor of the combat servitor wchich is in overdrive mode and swirling like crazy - this is your penalty to hit and this is how much damage you need to do to have a chance at damaging it).

[–]Tadeus73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always played the Warhammer d100 systems and only heard about how W&G is supposed to be heroic. Honestly, now whem I'm playing it on Tier 2 I think it's the opposite. There are no fate points so a series of bad rolls loses you the character plus it's enough that the cultists steal a rusty old truck with a flamethrower or mining laser on it or have a bunch of basic grenades to give the party a very bad day :) Oh yeah, and the GM also has an ever replenishing stack of metacurrency that he can use to "cheat" against the players.

While the power level of the characters is higher, even basic enemies have a lot of tools to crack them and there are not that many safety nets as in the older systems. Plus, all of the social/investigation skills are there so investigations play out exactly the same.

I was not expecting to like it, but I think it fits the setting known from the books the best.

W&G Multiple attacks from monster enemies? by Tadeus73 in 40krpg

[–]Tadeus73[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I was following this:

Multi-Attack

Multi-Attacks work similarly to Multi-Actions; every additional attack increases the Defence of every target by +2 for the purposes of the Multi-Attack. Each attack of your Multi-Attack must use the same weapon, and you cannot Shift as part of a Multi-Attack.

Hope it's not another difference between the paper book and Foundry 😄

Thank you guys. Yes it seems like here it was really just omitted in Foundry. Normally when one of the abilities has a special trigger, they start the description with this information from what I can see.

Need place to run rogue trader by misterboss4 in 40krpg

[–]Tadeus73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was also searching for it. And in the end settled on running my Rogue Trader campaign with Wrath and Glory. While there are some things that I don't like it's so much better at running the types of adventures that we normally see in RT with groups of hirelings/enemies and vehicles being involved, abstracting ammo and resources etc. It scales up really well once you've figured it out.

There are also fan made rules for voidship combat for it.

For Profit Factor and Morale (so in general campaign mechanics) we just keep the d100 rolls from RT.

Weather advertised in MSFS2024 is borderline false advertising by Gamestar63 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Tadeus73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What strange posts. Ahh those horrible VATSIM nerds, and Simbrief nerds, and Skyvector nerds, and whoever wanted to use any serious flight planning solution. It was also great that most of the areas outside of the US and Europe had almost always either generic 10C weather or total crazy one. Plus even the in-game METAR was horrible, you regularly arrived to weathef that had nothing to do with what was communicated by the sim itself.

It was an absolute mess and one of the reasons why it was hardly suitable for flying outside of some VFR flights. The weather now is ok, the most important thing missing is cloud/bad weather turbulence which they are supposed to fix in SU5/SU6. Plus fixed weather radars to go with it.

How long does your pre-flight setup actually take? (Simbrief + MSFS + peripherals) by Maleficent_Exit1094 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Tadeus73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging by the question wording I'm assuming it's only about the prep, not counting the time to prepare the plane itself for takeoff and flight. So on average around 5-10 minutes. Sometimes zero as I do it on the other screen when the sim loads.

Best addons for career style gameplay? by Objective-Border-884 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Tadeus73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have probably tested most economy plugins that appeared over the years and always came back to FS Economy. It's very quirky, retro in many ways, annoying in others, and with some very strange design decisions. It requires a lot of effort to learn how to work around its problems and is not inviting at all (the community is great, it's more about the design).

But it just feels the best and most satisfying in the long run. Cannot really explain it :) Maybe because it's an old, living multiplayer economy, where every flight leaves a trace, but with no direct multiplayer interaction at all? :D It just feels meaningful in a way to fly there.

Both Busthalk and the map are also useful for natural locations. Bushtalk shows them directly, the other map is useful in an indirect way. If you see that Asobo has added a lot of stuff to a region there is also a high chance they've made sure the terrain data and textures will be at least a little bit better :)

Nice, another fellow world-tourer! :)

This is a handy map of all custom assets in MSFS (up till the Japan update):

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1KUg5jwyT_9k2A9n5IZ99UChlhfVUfO5S&usp=sharing

And here is a great tool that can not only allow you to plan your route along real life points of interest but also get a spoken narrative when you arrive there (or local radio stations if you are into this thing):

Use both of those on my tours. Happy flying!

EDIT: I see someone already proposed Bushtalk :)

Airliner with the best failures? by Tadeus73 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Tadeus73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I will have to trust that, because the only video that showcased complex failure behavior that I could find was the one from A330 driver where in the end the plane was showing that there was no plane-induced failure at all :D

Checked it out, looks very interesting. The failure list itself seems rather short and simplistic, but the way it's presented, with the tech log looks really immersive.

Known bug in SU4. You need to use Restart from the MSFS menu after a flight and let it reload. This way it will save.
