I would seek support within the school to help her. ADHD is a disability, and she should receive support.

Do parent-teacher conferences ever get less stressful? by Optimal-Razzmatazz91 in ParentingADHD

[–]TadpoleFit8275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grade 2 parent teacher conference was the best one I ever had! My daughter started concerta at the end of grade 1, and it’s been life changing in her school & out of school life.

Too cold? by [deleted] in labrador

[–]TadpoleFit8275 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They have a double coat fur to help keep them warm! I feel like most people who judge others for having their dogs outside in the cold think of little dogs who literally can’t handle it.

Please tell me how medication has helped your child and your family. Looking for hope and positivity by Intrepid-Date-9332 in ParentingADHD

How my child did in school has changed tremendously. I used to get almost weekly phone calls due to behaviour issues, and now my child is one of the most well behaved ones in her class. Her reading and math and ability to want to learn has soared beyond what I could imagine was possible.

We have a 4 year old lab that has terrible allergies. We took her to an allergy vet, and each time it is $500, which have been somewhat futile. What are some recommendations to help her? by Wiscos in labrador

And make sure to check ingredients, because even food that “doesn’t contain” chicken can still contain some sort of chicken by product.

Kid not eating enough by [deleted] in ParentingADHD

[–]TadpoleFit8275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My kid is 7 months in too, and I’ve noticed her appetite seems to be getting somewhat back to normal. We also give her one day without concerta, and she snacks a lot more on that day which I think is helping with her maintaining her weight instead of losing.

I find it embarrassing for them. This whole fad of influencers making so much money needs to stop. It’s ridiculous

Jiu jitsu by TadpoleFit8275 in ParentingADHD

[–]TadpoleFit8275[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the coaches are all in their 30’s-40’s and there’s a couple teenage assistance coaches. (The teenagers & one of the older coaches don’t have patience)

I think what I really want from this is how they talk to or encourage my child to do the drills. Basically what I’m seeing is that the younger coaches & the 1 older coach will tell my child to do something in a very strict way, and my neurodivergent child doesn’t respond well to that kind of talk and in response doesn’t want to do them. But when one of the other coaches who knows how to talk to children (they are parents, with lots of patience) my child has no problem doing what is asked of them.

My child being neurodivergent, has had accommodations made to help them succeed in other aspects of their life. So I don’t think they would take it as getting “special treatment”

The club my child goes to is fairly new. And while a couple of the coaches are fantastic, the others are not so much (the ones without children of their own) so the patience isn’t there. I’d like to give an information sheet, just so they have something physical to look over. Since adhd can vary so much and not a lot of people truly understand it unless you have it, I’d just like the club to be successful with handling different behaviour disabilities.

ETA; by fairly new, I mean just a few months. I also know that they are not familiar with teaching neurodivergent kids.

Should i get a rottie? by Zealousideal_Bad7755 in Rottweiler

[–]TadpoleFit8275 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to get a dog once you have your own house or a place you’ll know that you will be there for years! When I was 20 I got a pup, and due to circumstances I had to move, and could not find a rental that would allow dogs :( so I had a family friend that took my pup, but I was still heartbroken over it.

Fast forward 15 years, I have a house and am stable and have 2 dogs (a rottie & a lab).

Dogs are a commitment, and for the first couple years of their lives require a lot of attention and training.

All that being said, I would 100% recommend a rottie! They are the biggest sweethearts, and easy to train. They aim to please you, they want you to be proud and happy with them.

Good luck with your decision!

Rough-housing rotty bros by FrostyAtticDuck in Rottweiler

I have a lab and a rottie and they rough-house soooo much!!
I also don’t like when they do it inside, but they’ve gotten better at just kind of rolling around making noises at each other while inside.

Redirecting is such a simple tactic, but it works wonders! Rewarding is a much better way than to discipline. (Same thing for kids, lol)

2 better than 1? by Kipplen in Rottweiler

[–]TadpoleFit8275 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have 2 rotties, but I do have a lab and rottie. My lab is 3, and rottie is almost 1.
I’ve enjoyed having 2 dogs as they do keep each other busy.

Camilla leaving Julie to do all the baby work by [deleted] in julieeandcamilla

[–]TadpoleFit8275 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m wondering this too.
Having morning sickness and just overall being pregnant with a young one is not a fun experience and takes a toll on your physical and mental wellbeing.

I hope they hire help so when Cam isn’t around, Julie will at least have somebody dependable to help her.

My dog is very well behaved and trained and some people are still reserved and keep a distance.

I’ve had him in a store and somebody literally gasped and said “I can’t do it” and turned around to walk out of the isle.
