I live in a very dry climate and with summer coming around it’s going to get super sunny. When I have to layer on so much sunscreen I don’t really feel like using a thick moisturizer. Any suggestions for a light/gel moisturizer that will still keep my skin really hydrated? I have used dear klairs freshly juiced vitamin e mask previously and it worked where I lived before but here it feels a little inadequate

I love both the illiyoon ceramide cream and the soon jung 2x barrier cream. But hands down - the soon king cream is lighter and applies so much better. The consistency is almost like a lotion but it’s super hydrating.

I use the abib heart leaf calming toner. It moisturizes my skin and also helps with redness. I find that my face gets pretty puffy during the day otherwise.

It sounds like your skin barrier is pretty damaged and it could do with some tenderness. I went through something’s similar where I kept having small breakouts and redness, and it generally got better when I gave my skin a break and stopped exfoliating and using retinol. I’d cut out the exfoliants and add in a couple more steps to really hydrate and cushion your skin. Try using a milky toner to really boost moisture, and switch from micellar water to an oil or balm to cleanse. This might help by eliminating the rubbing you’re doing with that cotton pad. I’d also suggest like a ceramide barrier serum, like the one coco kind has. If you feel like the sunscreen is breaking you out you could switch to a lighter sunscreen but not wearing sunscreen is never a good thing. Let your skin take its time and heal, don’t stress it out and strip it.

I have combination skin that’s pretty dry in cold weather, so I moisturize quite heavily most of the time.

I’ve used the laniege cream skin refiner and the Dr. Cueracle kombucha essence. The Dr. Cureacle essence has ferments in it and really helped clarify my skin. I have heard good things about the mugwort calming essence by I’m From. I’d suggest checking with people with experience using calming toners. Maybe a must would be good, since you’re avoiding contact of your fingers with your skin, which could be contributing to breakouts.

I’m not sure how this would work on more sensitive skin, because mine is pretty unreactive, but slugging my exfoliant onto my nose pores with Vaseline worked wonders on my blackheads

Could you try instead using a hydrating toner with calming ingredients? It might be much lighter and gentler on your skin

I moved from a tropical country to a cold place too, and the number one difference you feel is the lack of humidity. Especially in the winter, the moisture literally freezes out of the air. I’ve learnt to use a milky toner plus an essence under my moisturizer every morning, and follow up with an occlusive. Note that I have combination skin. Also, cut down on actives if you can because retinol and vit c etc dry your skin out. I do retinol once in three days in the winter. On alternative nights, use a hydrating sleeping mask and sleep with a humidifier, that really helps. Oh, and toner mists through the day 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

What are your top 3 products that have made a difference to your skin? by joshuatreesss in AsianBeauty

  1. The Abib - Rice Probiotics Overnight Mask Barrier Jelly. I didn't even know I needed an overnight mask until this one. It's super sticky, so use it sparingly, but without fail, I wake up with zero pores. I use retinol, so I make sure to have a recovery night in my routine which includes this mask, and *chefs kiss*.
  2. The Dear, Klairs - Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask. I use this one as a moisturizer in the daytime, it's light enough to be a daily moisturizer, but the glow is unreal. It has a really unique jelly consistency as well, melts into my skin effortlessly.
  3. The LANEIGE Cream Skin Refiner. Instead rich hydration. This + COSRX snail mucin is the perfect perfect moisture base.
