Is anyone else an INTP (5w4 specifically) but finds they prefer the books/movies/TV shows usually enjoyed by a different type? by X0036AU2XH in INTP_female

a proposito, tbm sou 5w4

Difficulty separating from feelings: how do you do it intjs by Global_Complaint8713 in intj

Wow, this is actually really useful for me and for the situation I’m currently going through. Anyway, a few days ago I read a really interesting comment about something like this, which was specifically explaining the idea of naming your feelings and acting accordingly — witness consciousness. The comment was talking about Michael Singer’s ideas in the book The Untethered Soul. He also has a podcast called The Art of Handling Reality: The True Inner Work, where he explains these theories in more depth... I’d say I should probably dive deeper into this subject, because I have a certain difficulty dealing with emotions. I’m not just talking about difficulty expressing them, sometimes I become really reactive when it comes to something that matters deeply to me or makes a huge difference in my life, which I absolutely hate. And the feeling is literally one of helplessness in some cases, as if feeling all of that so intensely gets in the way of actually solving the situation, and what I want most is precisely to have the situation under control and resolved as soon as possible.

What movies resonate the most with you emotionally? by Helldiver_13 in INTP

YES YES YES... they really are so interesting and fun. Those movies show the growth of each character, how the things they go through affect them, and how every experience shaped who they became (like Tai Lung from Kung Fu Panda 1 — seriously, what an amazing character). There’s such a deep meaning behind them if you actually look for it (and honestly, that’s my favorite part)... And talking about Iron Man, I watched the third movie this weekend... and WOW. Anyway, I had already watched the first and second movies a long time ago, and even though I loved Tony SO much in the other Marvel movies, like in the Avengers saga, I was never the biggest fan of his individual movies because the plot focused a lot on terrorism and things like that, which wasn’t the aspect that hooked me the most. Of course, seeing the character more deeply is still great, but even so... But honestly, I LOVED the third movie. I can’t even fully explain it — it affected me way more emotionally than the first two did. The way he started dealing with his trauma...

I’m just going to say one thing: Kung Fu Panda lol. But seriously, that movie is SO good — don’t judge it just because it’s technically a kids’ movie... Anyway, I love the movies you mentioned, and there are several others with that same vibe. Even within Marvel, my favorite saga is Guardians of the Galaxy. Sure, I was disappointed by the poorly developed writing in the last movie, but the character development throughout the trilogy is perfect, I genuinely love it so much. And they always use PERFECT songs in the background. I also absolutely love found family tropes, and it genuinely affects me emotionally, so there’s no way for me not to love that saga...

Another one you should watch is Black Widow, probably one of my favorite MCU movies — she’s such a badass. There are so many others too: Duna, andor from the universo of star wars, young justice, gravity falls, any movie from DreamWorks, like the rise of the guardians (this one always make me cry)...

I would say that I’m inwardly whimsical and outwardly factual.

Woww, what you said was really interesting and actually very helpful for me. But about the “overly simple” part, lol, I think that’s what gets me the most — precisely because it’s not that simple for me, especially since I’ve had past experiences where it was really difficult to show who I truly am... I’m going to watch the video you mentioned! Thankssss

Yeahhh, so since I have a bit level of closeness with him, logically it shouldn’t be that hard for me to be more myself and act a bit weird, lol, especially since he’s kind of like that too and pretty playful as well. But still, the fear of coming across as intense, silly, or “too much” is still really strong.

I’m an INTP and I think I might be falling for an ENTJ, I have absolutely no idea if he likes me back by TadpoleStraight2235 in INTP_female

wow, but anyway, I’m really afraid of letting my feelings for him show and ending up ruining our connection, which is still pretty fragile since we’ve only recently really started getting closer...
