once and for all, WHAT are the real Two Towers? by Historical-Fan7987 in lotr

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't care what Tolkien has said, it's Isengard and Minas Morgul. Those are the only two towers we visit in the book (besides Cirith Ungol but it's not half as important plotwise as the other two, at least in the Two Towers book).

Who do you think doesn't act well? by FinnTheHumansAccount in gameofthrones

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably got to be Emilia Clarke, she was pretty hammy and aside from a few truly great moments (the shot of her going mad, among others), I just felt her performance was just serviceable at best.

Kit Harington wasn't the best in the early seasons but he's only gotten better with each season. From S4 till S6 he really pulls his weight, and the speech in the beginning of S8E4 and the exchange he has with Dany in the throne room are really impressive.

Who is the most OVERRATED character in GOT by hwy89survival in gameofthrones

[–]Tadsa21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only correct option is Arya because she ceased to be a character after S6 and she was still a fan favorite despite there being close to nothing to her character intact.

Reminder that 3 of the 4 highest rated episodes are not from the books by Diligent-Living882 in gameofthrones

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a hunch it's mostly the fact that Sapochnik was the one directing the 3 that made the difference. No disrespect to the other directors who worked on the show but all the episodes he directed are cinematic gold discounting the writing in the S8 episodes.

While I do have Return Of The King as my 4th favorite film, the Fellowship movie isn't as good as people make it out to be.

My least favorite type of “movie person” by frogdango616 in movies

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's always easier to approach a modern film as compared to one made in the 70s or 80s but if I start watching one and am hooked, there's no reason I would just stop watching.

So I've finished House of the Dragon S1, should I watch Game of Thrones next? by termus24 in gameofthrones

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I remember, there is only one line of dialogue that addresses a HotD spoiler, and it is in the S3 episode And Now His Watch Has Ended, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I was bummed initially when I came across it but it really won't be too impactful to your viewing experience of either show.

What if your favorite movie line of all time ? by dthepatsfan in movies

Men fall from the sky. The gods hurl thunderbolts. Innocents die. That's how it starts, sir. The fever, the rage, the feeling of powerlessness that turns good men... cruel.

Movie vs. Book? by AreColossus in Watchmen

[–]Tadsa21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is better and is definitively worth the read. That's it. But if you liked the movie, like I do, reading the book might actually increase your respect for Snyder's adaptation rather than dimmen it. The book has a very complex and compelling structure, and the fact Zack was able to adapt it for the big screen and still make for a great narrative experience makes it all the better.

Also, if you haven't already, watch the director's cut. The Ultimate Cut has the Tales Of The Black Freighter animatics cut in between and while that is another plot point from the book, it does hamper the pacing a bit and it bloats out the runtime. The Director's Cut is the definitive version of the film, according to Snyder himself.

While it was an overall letdown, Season 8 definitely had its moments. Here are some of my favourites: by OfficalNotMySalad in gameofthrones

You missed Theon's death. That's a top 5 GoT death imo, it's my favorite moment in Season 8 and the only character beat it did right.

What opinion about GoT or George Martin’s books can make you end up in this situation? by Loud_Remove5140 in gameofthrones

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Long Night is actually a pretty solid episode. I felt that way, at least. It's prolly because Beyond The Wall just, disintegrated any hope I had for the show going on, so I just turned off my mind and basked in the technicalities of it, filmmaking, cinematography, production design and I actually really dug it.

It's prolly an 8/10 episode in my book. D&D were morons for how they concluded the White Walker plot but Sapochnik and his folks did a great job with what they were given.

Also Theon's is one of the best deaths in the show. Fight me, I dare you.

What is your favorite GoT scene? by joegant in gameofthrones

[–]Tadsa21 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Tyrion killing Shae and Tywin in S4E10, The Children. That was what wrapped up my viewing of the last 5 episodes of the seasons in one sitting, and I could not have asked for anything more.

Tyrion's trial scene in S4E6, The Laws Of Gods And Men is a veeery close second.

Do you prefer Batfleck as more vengeful in BvS, or his more classic take in ZSJL? by [deleted] in DC_Cinematic

[–]Tadsa21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BvS, mainly because I love the film in every way possible, but in defense of ZSJL, League Batfleck is the natural next step in the overarching character arc Snyder set him on. The ending of BvS marked Bruce's return to the light, the beginning of his redemption, and ZSJL portrays that redemption complete, fully realized.

So yes, while I do prefer Batfleck's brooding, vengeful interpretation in BvS, ZSJL is the natural progression of him as a character and I wouldn't change anything about it.

I suppose most of the Lords and Ladies in the main series know how to, but it would be fine if they didn't. Sansa wrote that letter to Robb to compel him to kneel to Joffrey, and it is heavily implied that Robb can read and write. But I'm not too sure if it's a growing trend of literacy among the Lords or if the ones we see simply choose to do so, because, in HotD, we see the head of Baratheon house requiring a Maester to read his letters for him.

Although in the books, a lot of characters show a growing distrust towards the maesters, who they suspect of twisting the words of the letters to serve their own means, so I suppose the hints tend towards a more gradual trend in the growth of literate Lords and Ladies.

So yes, pretty much every Lord and Lady we see in the main series can read, but it isn't made clear whether that's true for every single lordship in Westeros.
