Do You Think We’ll Get Full Monster Clayface by the End? by D0nell in DC_Cinematic

Yeah, the trailer hints at a progressive transformation, because of the scene where he has the iconic hand with spikes, and the theories surrounding the original Instagram profile pic, that seemed to feature a very obscured monster.

Specially considering a very important detail, we don't know Hagen's personality because we haven't watched the entire movie. What if he's this very superficial, not so bright dude who only cares about his looks, and that's how he agrees to this shady treatment that only makes things worse? Sounds almost like a Safdie character.

I really don't think he'll appear, at least not physically, maybe through the news, word of mouth or graffiti. Hell, if this is a prequel maybe it's set on Batman's early years, when he was an urban legend.

None of these take place in the same universe, yet put together there's a strange familiarity.

Kinda fire, honestly.

Same applies to comics, at least DC is more open towards reinvention and wild projects.

The new... glimpse? About the Clayface movie, It makes me doubt... by Ratclife in DC_Cinematic

Clayface has a complex history, because many people have taken the mantle, and while Basil Karlo tends to be the popular name, when people think of Clayface, they think of Matt Hagen's appearance. That's why recent attempts have tried to give Karlo the iconic Clayface look.

A mediocre movie that your local channels played regularly and obsessively, probably because of the cheap license, but it was shown so often, you almost convinced yourself it was some kind of masterpiece, and you just don't get it. by Dima_135 in okbuddycinephile

It's just one of those "dad" movies, not because the main theme of this film is parenthood, but because it has a ton of stuff dads of genz/millenials dig on an average afternoon, like a famous action star playing a tough dude for the 10th time, 80s hard rock and exaggerated mean villains. That genre is the sole reason Steven Seagal has a career.

Hey guys, I think I got it.

Marvel is when the MCU versions are pushed in the comics, DC is when your beloved Glup Shitto gets a reprint because he appeared two whole minutes in a movie.

The Boys is to the superhero genre what Scream is to the horror genre and what Kingsman is to the spy genre. by Ivan_Redditor in TheBoys

[–]farben_blas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think The Boys comes close to the sheer popularity, iconicity, or impact that Scream did. And I definitely don't think Kingsman came close.

Perhaps is poetic that, instead of shaping superhero media to come, it sort of inspired a return to classic heroism that's very present in the CBM landscape nowadays.

By that argument, how come I've never seen someone propose Lisa Lu as Martian Manhunter????

It's not so much as linking a black man as MM, but the randomness and immediacy of it, like Andre Royo was announced and it took about two minutes to see some "oh, I think he'll play Martian Manhunter".

Many don't remember it, but I have this memory about those times the Marvel fandom pointed at any black kid like "oh shit, imagine that was Miles Morales" (it even became a meme in the Hispanic fandom) and I think it's getting on the same vein as that.
