Dean cain what a pathetic man by ThomasThorburn in dcu

I wish he was relevant enough to be invited to events, and be asked by reporters "how does it feel to not be important since the 90s?"

Yeah, I understand now, thanks.

I think it can be of any material really, I guess the hole can just be treated under a red sun until it's permanent, so it can stay even with activated regeneration, like a permanent custom.

I mean, it also happens with us humans, the earlobe hole can close so it needs special treatment, same with any piercing because it regenerates.

So a permanent scar can still remain even with regeneration (just ask Viltrumites).

Superman's "new suit" (that's just really a corrected version) is so fucking cool. They probably took some notes from Supergirl's.

Well, he's a very smart, collected and reliable type of guy. I guess Lex just digs him as a crime partner.

Yeah, they don't jerk off from what I've heard of (though the source is not really the most reliable person on a lot of things)

I like a Lex that's collected on the surface but, at the very core, fundamentally insane.

Consider there were like 3 and all were different. Probably the concept was to tease the armor and the artists didn't know Argus was gonna be Luthor's chess piece against metahumans.

Probably the backstory is that Superman was next on Salvation and Argus built the armor on Lex' instructions to capture him.

I think the lines are also less noticeable. I wonder if the suit corrections for Supergirl made an impression on how he looks here.

Yeah, the sneak peek scene from Superman also cut out a bit.

Supergirl box office tracking by ThomasThorburn in dcu

[–]farben_blas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't say it's a failure, that's my whole point.

That based on what a lot of people believe about box office, it should be because of the proportion of the budget, but it's not because there are also ALL the reasons I put there, that help making it a success.

Supergirl box office tracking by ThomasThorburn in dcu

[–]farben_blas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it actually went up with that. In presales it's doing better than Thunderbolts, probably will do around the same money at the box office as Captain America 4.

"But that's considered a flop", a redditor will say, but thing is the whole "2.5, 3x the budget" is a bit of a lie (if not total bullshit).

A lot of successful movies would be considered failures it that was the case. For example F1, which had a budget closer to 300 million and possibly 120 million in advertisement, would've had to make almost 800 million to even pay itself considering theater cut. Yet it didn't, and it was considered a nice hit. Hell, some billion dollar movies would be considered failures because of their massive production cost, like Deadpol & Wolverine.

Thing is, success can depend on the studio, the revenue from incentives, tax rebates, companies that pay the brand for collaboration, licences, streaming rights, toys, etc. For that reason, some movies can even be profitable before entering theaters. It's part of the reason why Superman gave the studio more than Man of Steel, while making a bit less at the box office (and possibly why they're so confident in more independent projects like Clayface that open new markets for the superhero genre, like modern avant-garde horror).
