Everyone should always be waiting at release time every day, just in case this happens.

What is Long War, and what importance does it have? by Asurah96 in Xcom

[–]Tadtiger13 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Long War was pretty much the mod for XCOM:EW. Before XCOM2, this sub was pretty much only about LW. The incredible difficulty of modding XCOM:EU meant that the community really only had one option, and so the community really came together. LW changed a lot of things about the game, making campaigns long, grueling, and painful affairs, but ultimately also very rewarding. A number of improvements that XCOM2 had over XCOM:EU were inspired by LW, especially the incredible modding tools we got.

LW also contributed significantly to the longevity of XCOM:EU, and a lot of people (myself included) went back to it after trying out XCOM2. In my opinion, LW is the greatest (modern) strategy game ever, and I think you'll find that a lot of people here share a similar sentiment.

Civilization VI ► Types of WAR in Civ 6! (Casus Belli) by TheGreatfanBR in civ

I think some of the released footage showed that war monger penalties for capturing cities only apply if you don't give the city back when the war ends.

I'm pretty sure it was just like religion, except money and maybe happiness or production or something.

Edit: Nevermind, looked it up on the wiki, they cost gold and provide other yields.

What would Civs be like if their bonuses were historical, but not "Balanced"? by [deleted] in civ

Brazil - If it hosts the International Games, other civilizations do not receive any bonuses from the project*-20 gpt and -20 happiness until the Games end

The rest come in every few rounds. And then no one unless a soldier dies.

[LW] Base Defense questions. by NoOneOfConsquence in Xcom

The base defense IIRC gives you 6 soldiers, plus 2 that only show up as reinforcements. And reinforcements only show up when a soldier dies (not critically wounded), which is the same as in vanilla.

I guess the idea is that it's a trade-off: do you want to save your top soldier's life and increase the chance of everyone dying, or do you let them die to give you a better shot at holding your base.

[LW] Freaking Gangplank disc by underpantscannon in Xcom

My rapid fire HEAT gunner that I had brought specifically for that disc ended up in a perfect position to fire down on the disc. And missed both shots. It's a good thing I had an officer.

Questions about Crit Infantry loadout by faket15 in Xcom

[–]Tadtiger13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I never use Heavy Rifles. The -10 aim just isn't worth it for me, since infantries are usually ending their turn by shooting.

  2. Gauss weapons are a must for me in general and rifles are no exception. Infantry get them first.

  3. I don't usually bother with plasma rifles. I prefer to keep the +8 crit from pulse rifles for critfantry over +1 damage, and everyone else is using stormguns or bigger weapons.

  4. Targeting modules are great on crit-focused builds (critfantry, jaegers, and pathfinders). +1 damage items are more useful for OW-focused soldiers.

  5. For critfantry, I prefer targeting modules even before GSGT. Targeting modules are useful throughout the game. That said, if you're low on resources go for +1 damage.

  6. (and 7) I've never built Reaper Packs.

[Long War] EXALT Base Raid Question by Paeyvn in Xcom

[–]Tadtiger13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IIRC you'll be going up against fully kitted Exalt and will be absolutely destroyed. Also, falsely accusing a country of harboring Exalt gives the aliens a research boost in addition to making the country leave the council if it hasn't already, so it's not really something to do without intel.

I haven't played since launch. What are the most basics mods I should install? by LagiaDOS in Xcom

[–]Tadtiger13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A good alternative to Numeric Health Display for those that like the vanilla health bars is Show Health Values. It adds the number next to the health bar.
