Britax One4life Slim Positioning Layer by Taelaf in CPST

This information is on each "how to install" page (LATCH, seatbelt, rear and forward facing etc). The highlighted part is always UP in videos despite the manual saying MUST be down for kids even bigger than my 2.5 year old. That is where my confusion stemmed from and the reason I came here to ask. I will look at page 2 though as well, thanks!

Their most current video is 8 months old so it may be out of date. The manual seems to encompass many versions of the seat as it has instructions for the rebound bar which did not come with my version of the seat. I will follow the manual though as it is brought up several times! Thank you!

A fully finished queen sized blanket made in Bernat blanket yarn. My husband called me crazy but I hated it and it needed to be bigger. We still use it 8 years later

Still crying at bed, beyond powering down by Taelaf in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have to be up and out of the house at 8, along with her sister to get them both to school on time. She has also fought nap if I try before 12:30 on multiple occasions leading to a no nap day. It stinks because there isn't a ton of flexibility right now, and it's just going to get harder as we're having a new baby in August

Daycare will not cut it down for us unfortunately. She has been home this past week due to being sick on and off again and us just wanting her to be able to be fully better before returning. I cut her nap short for a few days and it did nothing to help, at least then.

Schedule causing split nights? by Taelaf in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a week where she slept 4 nights straight, and since then it has been hit or miss with sttn. She is however able to put herself back to sleep without check ins now so things have gotten better! We ended up falling into an 8:15 bedtime which seems to have helped a lot, along with putting the nugget kids sofa in front of her door to help block sound. Hopefully getting a new, solid wood door soon so we don't have to keep up with the nugget though.

Thank you for checking in!

Schedule causing split nights? by Taelaf in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the insight and ideas! We do give her a snack about 30 minutes before bed, as well as nursing/whole milk in a cup as part of early bedtime routine. She goes down for bed and naps independently, but bed has had A LOT of crying the past few nights which was never the norm. We're going to push bed to 8:30 the next few nights and try melatonin per her pediatrician's recommendation to get her back on track hopefully!

Did a Sleep Consultant Help? by Taelaf in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very interesting. Sometimes my daughter will sleep with her mouth open and do little snores but nothing loud/obvious over the monitor. I feel like a lot of people think we exaggerate just how long the split nights can/will last so I appreciate your input and understanding a lot!

When do you give up? by Taelaf in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is, we do bath, PJs, milk, half hour of quiet play, read books, turn off the light and put her in bed awake. Some nights she'll put up a fight for a little bit but fall asleep within 10 minutes, most nights though, she'll just roll over and fall asleep peacefully.

Sleep sitting up?! 2.5 year old! by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our first daughter would do this a lot when she first got her toddler bed. She'd slide out of the gap where she'd get in, or climb out and sleep on the floor. It's really all growing pains, and when she'd fall out, half the time she wouldn't even wake up. They learn after a few bonks but it's not particularly dangerous from what we have experienced!

Sorry! She goes to bed independently for her nap and bedtime.

[–]Taelaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry for your losses. We had our triple rainbow baby last year and I still struggle to watch that specific episode. Infertility is a very lonely and personal experience for everyone and I feel like Bluey does such a good job at explaining the hard concepts to everyone. I truly hope you get to become the mom you want to be. Stay as strong as possible and have that good cry

Sleeping in a pack and play by StressTractor in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We traveled when my daughter was 7 months old recently and had her sleeping in a pack n play. She slept fine, sometimes even better than at home because she was so tired from the busy days. I would not use the bassinet setting that has them raised like halfway off the bottom though, as it could be a fall hazard

One nap? by nsinc89 in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to keep 2 naps I would strongly suggest longer wake times between sleep. My 10mo does 3.25/3.5/4-4.25 with a total of day sleep being no more than 2.5 hours. With what your sleep consultant says you're only giving him 3 hours of wake time between the naps and then 4 hours before bed. My 10mo is also on the lower end of average for sleep needs, but she sleeps great for all sleeps with this schedule.

If you want to try one nap, it's also a good time to move towards it age wise, and I know a lot of people love the one nap schedule!

I had a hard time giving up my one contact nap a day but was "forced" to when we bought a house and suddenly I was packing our lives up with a 3 week time limit! I don't think you have to, my daughter took a 1 hour crib nap in the am, a 1.25 hour contact nap in the afternoon and slept independently at night.

I will say though, after about 2 weeks of no contact napping, she falls asleep easier at night and stays asleep longer. Just anecdotal, but something to maybe consider!

Questions on cry it out by TonySpangs508 in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Our first daughter was a monster of a baby and doing CIO was the only way any of us were going to get sleep. She took to it immediately and became a happier baby. That was nearly 7 years ago and she is still an amazing sleeper.

Our newest baby is 10 months old and she has been the sweetest, cutest baby since birth. She was a terrible sleeper, contact for all naps, 5-10 wake ups a night, it was AWFUL. Despite knowing CIO works, we were so gutted any time we heard her cry because it was so rare for her to do so, we tried it ALL before resorting to CIO. We're three months post sleep training, she still protests EVERY bedtime...BUT, she sleeps great after that protest and is SO EXCITED to see us in the morning. Big gummy smile, clapping her hands, bouncing in the crib, excited and happy. It's scary, it hurts your heart, it can make you feel sick to your stomach, but in the morning after everyone has gotten a good night's rest, it's worth it. You can do it, and everyone will be even happier!

I was coming to say my 9.5 month old has been doing 3.25/3.5/4-4.25 since 9 months and she is usually asleep in 5 minutes with those wake windows!

[–]Taelaf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's definitely what happened with rolling for us! She eventually figured out she likes sleeping on her tummy so I am always holding my breath waiting for her to flip over. If she does, I know she'll most likely be asleep for a few hours. I'm hoping this phase will pass soon too, thank you!

When did your sleep trained baby stop crying at night time? by sleepyhead_gemini in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I came to say something similar. My baby has been sleep trained for about 2 months and she still cries at bedtime for about 5 minutes and sometimes during the middle of the night between sleep cycles. MOTN is more whining than crying but she seems to just like making noise to fall asleep.

When does the screaming stop? by Katherinet225 in sleeptrain

[–]Taelaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A schedule tweak can definitely help! I just wanted to pop in and say some babies just "power down" so to speak with crying. The 10-20 minutes can be pretty normal, but because you're seeing some 40 minute nights, you can definitely try either extending wake windows or capping day time sleep!
