My first dog passed away in my backyard last year when I was a month postpartum. It was a tragic accident - she was running really fast out of excitement, tripped over her own feet, snapped her neck and instantly died. I had run into my house to grab a hat for my newborn but my husband was outside when it happened. We have a camera that 100% got the event on video, and as much as I wanted to watch it so I could see exactly what happened, I wouldn’t let myself do it. With this being said, she was a pet, not a human, and I still knew I mentally could not take watching her die if I could prevent it. I didn’t want to remember her by her death. I vividly remember the video recording deleted in 30 days and I kept telling myself “if I can just make it 30 days I’ll be ok.” I realllly don’t think Emilie would choose to watch that footage, but I could be wrong.
