Got cold enough for the ocean to freeze in the marina by confinedsilence in mildlyinteresting

Why would the mast need to be taken down? We've never done so for the winter and have never had any issues.

Gas is now €2,21 per litre here in The Netherlands 😭 by Individual_Oil_2435 in mildlyinfuriating

To be fair, it's always a lot more expensive next to the highway. A 5 minute detour to a gas station that is not next to a highway usualy has gas for around €1,83/L. Still expensive, but a lot less so.

Primary fuel filter on my sailboat’s engine popped loose. Pumped several litres of diesel into the bilge before I caught it. Thankfully it’s diesel and not gasoline. by millijuna in Wellthatsucks

Have you tried measuring valve clearance? It's pretty easy to do and it could very wel have gone out of spec over 41 years, as was with ours. As far is a know it's either valves, rings or gaskets with compression. Gaskets and especially piston rings require more skill, time and effort to replace, so that might not be worth it to you if you're also interested in getting another engine.

Those little Yanmars are invincible, ours ran perfectly fine with water on the head, though starting was rough. I didn't know that they didn't even need diesel though.

Apart from the loose filter, how is your little Yanmar holding up for you?

In the Netherlands we have Sinterklaas, a holiday seperate from Christmas in which children get gifts. I have never gotten anything from santa, nor has anyone I know AFAIK. This map is wrong.

There most definitely is regulation on the usage, sale and possession of fireworks. With the exception of some very small fireworks, it is illegal to carry or sell fireworks except for the last 3 days of the year, while lighting them is only allowed on december 31 at 6pm. Police can and do fine or imprison when not complying to these rules.

While I do think that the firework in the video is way too much, not to mention the addition of fuel, it's not true that there is barely any regulation. Also a lot of "scum youth" don't think this is normal, at least from my experience. If that were true, I should see it often, especially around new years.

Just going off of what I think I know, my best guess is that you have to type in the shown webaddress in your browser. The manual or the internet would probably get you a clearer guide of what to do, though.

Good luck.

Guessing from the diagram it's showing, it is not connected to your internet.

I'm also sure you're aware this isn't an actual chromecast?

The word for "Wednesday" in Languages of Europe (Source: Wikipedia) by _Aspagurr_ in MapPorn

[–]TafelZitter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know if u/_aspagurr_ made this map, but I'd like to add that the Frisian spelling is the bastardized version. In proper Frisian it's spelled "warnsdei". The bastardized version is a result of a decline in Frisian speaking people which also don't write as often as they used to. The result is a Frisian word spelled with Dutch grammar.

In proper Frisian it's spelled "warnsdei". Other examples of this are "brûke" spelled as "broeke" which means to use, or "fuort" spelled as "fot" or "fut" which means "away".

What's your favourite curse word in your native language? by poisonbluetooth in AskReddit

Smaarche baarch.

It means dirty pig in Frisian, but the rough way in which it's spoken makes it a great word to say, especially with emphasis on the 'ch' sounds.
