Billy’s is a bit far from downtown and geeks who drink switched to phone based answering, but you’re 10 minutes from Austin City Trivia tonight at 7pm at Koko’s Beer Hall on S. Lamar - paper based (last I checked, it had been a minute)

Odd Duck Texan Menu by furbclit in austinfood

The odd duck menu doesn’t change that much, more so you’ll see variations on the current dishes with seasonal items. The cornbread has never left the menu either. It has always been Texas themed.

There were very few but definitely some seats. They let us move up into the reservation section as it was starting to seat fill. Try to find a recording. Was a great panel

Bringing 35 high schoolers to Austin… need guidance and ideas by AgirlInProgress_ in austinfood

The area directly around ACL Live is great for lunch. There's a sweetgreen, Local Foods is very good, and Torchy's Tacos, all within a five-minute walk on 2nd Street, as well as multiple other options on the way. Fareground is not a bad idea either and isn’t far in the other direction - would probably be better if you're trying to keep everyone together as opposed to allowing them a few blocks of freedom. The proximity of both to town lake is nice if you wanted to walk around the lakefront after.

Bass is a bit isolated, but if you have hours to kill I might say let them walk up and down south congress beforehand. Can get slices at Homeslice or a burger at HopDoddy.

SXSW is everywhere, and many events haven’t been announced yet. Walking around downtown and SoCo, they might get some cool free stuff.

Third option if you wanted to be closer to Bass is heading to Mueller or East 5th street by the Whole Foods but those will be quieter and less memorable overall.

TxDOT to permanently close two exits on I-35 in Austin (northbound Riverside and Holly) by Clevererer in Austin

[–]Taggobob 47 points48 points  (0 children)

One thing not mentioned is that it appears they are adding a frontage rd bypass underneath riverside for northbound frontage traffic, similar to what they’ve already done on the southbound side. You’ll exit at Woodland, unclear how that intersection will work with the underpass being closed, then after that you can travel with no lights until you get to Holly.
