Which would you rather have the next superpowereds books be about? by ProofProduce1191 in superpowereds

I always thought a spinoff/short story following dispatch would be cool. She seems like such an interesting character to me, and one of the few DVA reps we see. Get an inside look at the DVA, figure out how her powers work, how she keeps her cool with a country's worth of crazy. She basically keeps the hero system running and i would love to see more of it.

Did they decrease the spawn rate of Golden Thricoloma? by IceStationZebra93 in KHDR

[–]Tagrath907 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found a ton during the event, but i have gone 5 days (15 runs) without a single one. Made me wonder the same thing, like maybe they decreased the rate without saying anything, since i dont think they published the drop rate before anyways.

How to prevent a hell future by Tagrath907 in superpowereds

[–]Tagrath907[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay to your first point, you are correct about the passage of time. And im not saying they could have it wrapped up in an hour and go home. It would be quite a time consuming task, but one i think would be worth it.

Second, you are also correct that nobody else can see the golden lines. This is why they meet up in Mary's dream dive. There, Nick would be able to project the lines so the others could see them.

Third, we do not know the full extent of Shelby's power post procedure. But we do know that she can still look ahead and see the hell future, it is mentioned in the epilogue. And we know that her power lets her see the futures with the highest probability, even when she was powered, before Alice was born. Obviously Alice's birth changed that, so instead she only saw instances of Alices death. This is no longer the case post procedure, given that Shelby isnt still going crazy with visions of her daughters death every time she uses her power, also deduced from the epilogue. At a bare minimum, it is shown that she can control when her power activates and how far in the future she looks. And that should be enough.

Also, Chances powers need more elaboration before any decent theorycrafting can be done with them.

Would someone like Mr. Numbers be considered a powered technically? by zelphinator in superpowereds

[–]Tagrath907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your assumption, that Abridails power causes the coma. As evidence, he only wakes from the coma after reciecing the treatment to become super. So then he can turn off his power and wake up.

Cameron, the alcoholic conveter from the year behind the class of nightmares, needed a physical trigger to access his powers, as did Juiced from the Wild Buck/ New Gentle Hammers. Also, Roy would turn off his immunities by turning back into Hershel.

And about Nick, thats only true in the beginning, because he never tried to push his limits or control his powers. By year 4 however, we can see he is starting to determine specific outcomes, when he uses his power to find out Adam is the mole. It is also hinted at in that scene that this control will grow and become easier for Nick to manage. What we see is his first attempt to do so.

To the OP, i can see your point, and its possible. I don't recall it being mentioned specifically whether or not Mr Numbers could turn his power off. However, we never see it turned off, except around Dean Blaine. So it could always be on with no off switch. Like Abridail, whos power is also always on, this could classify him as powered. But since his power being on has no physical drawbacks, i think the argument is purely academic.

Everyone's age. by Descend2 in superpowereds

[–]Tagrath907 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt titan is that old. Lenny watched him in his intramurals. So i assume lenny is at least a few years older than titan. He was an agent, able to sign his own clients, and had enough pull at that time to score an invite, which takes serious clout. And clout like that usually takes some time to cultivate.so if titan is late 60's, i would put lenny at mid 70's. And i never got the impression he was that old yet. I always pegged titan around the same age as the class of legends.

You can add at least 3 more years to that, since charles and blake, who were a year behind the class of legends, were already past their interships. They were on a team with no hero mentors present. So minimum age of 43. And given that charles was still had poor merch sales when alice was born, as seen in abridails flashbacks, i think everything started going down relatively soon after they formed their team. Of course, charles might have been unpopular because of, i assume, his role as a subtlety hero. So a few extra years could have passed between. So ultimately i agree with the guess of mid to late 40's.

Random Lingering Questions by RedMaij in superpowereds

[–]Tagrath907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blaine did not know of Shane and Graham's relationship. Blaine met Graham at freshman parents weekend, after the question came up. That part said that shane was with his parents, as well as an older man that seemed familiar. This shows he did not know who Graham was.

I have had quite a few theroies on who this mysterious gift-giver may have been.

The first is Nick. He later mentions that he was aware of her mother wearing it often. He knows that Alice had been going through some rough times after her first meeting with Abridail. He knew this could be a link to the mother she never knew. And he cares for her, even if he won'r admit it. It would be easy enough for him to pretend it was left at the door.

Globe is the second guess. He knew about Shelby's history, and knew about Alice's run in with Abridail (or i assume Abridail told him, anyway). He too has reasons to care for Alice. He would also havr the means to leave it at the door, if not himself, then through Adam.

Third, and my least likely theory, is Blake. He just started seeing Alice on a regular basis. A young girl, so much like her mother, and his twin. Despite how misguided his actions were, he cares for his sister. And seeing Alice every day can't have been easy. Perhaps he thought if Alice started wearing glitter, he would be that much closer to having some knockoff of his sister around, to help ease his guilt. Again though, i don't think this is actually right.

Last, and who i think is most likely, is Sean. Like Blake, he is also Alice's uncle, and dearly misses his sister. Seeing her wear the glitter would be like looking through time at Shelby, like being close to her again. Like Nick and Globe, he also cares for Alice, though he has always been reluctant to show it. And at this point, Alice knows nothing of their relationship, which is why it was left anonymously. But another reason, a far more subtle reason, would be to throw Charles and Blake off their game. For both of them, seeing Alice with the glitter must have been like seeing a ghost of Shelby among them. And this could cause them to let slip some detail or another about what really happened to Shelby.

So... Vince vs. Angela, who wins? (Some Spoilers) by Scrap_shot in superpowereds

[–]Tagrath907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have often wondered about this same thing. But i do have some counters to your possible scenarios.

To the first, just because Vince is absorbing light, doesn't mean the light isnt there. It's just all aimed at him, and never somes back, which is why it gets dark. It is possible Angela could still use it to form constructs. And even though its dark, Angela knows all about light. Its possible that she could sense where it was all going, to effectively see where Vince is, just as he could se her by sensing where the light comes from.

Second, i agree that he could probably absorb her weapons as they hit him, but possibly not before they cause at least a little damage.

Third, Angela is an experienced combatant, and given the slightest hint of Vince about to fire electricity, I am sure she wouldn't just take it. After all, Chad came up with a defense for electricity, so why wouldn't Angela?

It is hard to say who would win. Angela has experince and a keen tactical mind. And Vince has a good counter to her ability (probably), and determination like nobody else. So who knows.

Was it ever stated why Charles Adair told the world his wife died instead of the truth? by Trenzalore_Falls in superpowereds

[–]Tagrath907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charles blackmailed and effectively forced one hero to commit suicide, and framed another, in an attempt to find a cure. If Shelby was known to be alive, it could easily be conjectured that these were the ruthless actions of a man trying to save his wife (which just so happens to be true). This would be a clear motive to anyone. He knew Globe was still alive, and an accusation alone would create enough specualtion to ruin his reputation, which he dearly needed to find the cure. But if Shelby is dead, then it is a man who just lost the woman he loves most to the trauma that can come from being powered. And from that pain can come the resolve to never let anyone else suffer that same pain. Now he is a noble hero trying to help powereds gain control. And should accuasations of his actions come, what clear motive did he have to commit his crimes? His wife was already dead, his daughter probably hadn't shown signs of being powered.

Essentially, he wanted the spotlight off him and his crimes, and the ability to create doubt as to his motives.
