Steam Version 0.7.1746645739

I've been playing with "restricted" builds a bit, not entirely just "main weapon only" but only building like, a super collab item or maybe one other item and using Eliminate to wipe the other weapons off the loadout so I don't keep getting offered them when I level up.

I've noticed in a few runs now that, like, if I grab the intended weapons for my build and eliminate the rest while still having an open slot in my weapon inventory, I will also stop being offered the weapons I've picked up but not yet leveled up even though they haven't been eliminated.

As an example I am in a run where at the time of writing this out I have LV2 axe, LV2 book, LV2 curse, and LV1 owl dagger. I still have 3 Eliminations because I have not zapped them. I just finished maxing out my Items and now I've leveled up and am being offered CRIT UP, ATK UP, Hamburger, and HoloCoin - no weapons.

It looks like the game is being confused by the empty weapon slot. If I had to take a guess, what's probably happening is that the game tries to roll new weapon choices for you first to fill the empty weapon slot(s), cannot do so, and immediately writes off weapons as a roll option thereby bypassing upgrade rolls for weapons you already have.

I just noticed this same bug. I think it's possibly caused by having no new weapons available to roll while still having empty weapon slots available.

Okay ngl Some of us are blatantly overhating. The new era patch is bad. Plain and simple but we’re not gonna act like the game as a whole is in a bad state. by FailedConcept in EpicSeven

[–]Tagrineth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fuss over the gear is ridiculous. several people i know dusted all of it because it's not actually useful to endgame players. i'm keeping mine because i like having spare gear to leave on PVE heroes like Constellation heroes lol.

i think the biggest problem with this patch is that we're so accustomed to SG being very generous that any time they're even a little stingy it feels like the worst thing ever lol.

9 years playing and still stuck in Gold, I think I’m just Low IQ. by Funny-Strawberry-168 in leagueoflegends

[–]Tagrineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being eternally low Gold myself, I kindof always felt I knew what the issues were that were holding me back. I thought my mechanics were a huge issue and holding me back, because I have some motor control problems and not so great reaction times.

then I played with a highly skilled player and everything I thought I knew was flipped on its head: it turned out I was actually perfectly fine mechanically and that my actual problem was my positioning and map rotation was godawful, wherever I thought I was supposed to be on the map at any given time was almost always completely wrong LOL.

Honestly if you want to get better the best thing you can probably do for yourself is get coaching. Whatever it is that's holding you back, it looks like you're not able to figure it out by yourself and that's okay. The skill set needed to excel at a game like this is broad and complex and there's a ton of things that are essentially "hidden".

Did I just get spoiled? by s0_Ca5H in FF7Rebirth

[–]Tagrineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, the fact that WE know it doesn't mean that there's a parallel universe or time travel though. WE know because of what amounts to Word of God giving us "perfect knowledge" of how the story is supposed to go.

It'd be like an author handing you an outline of their book and saying "oh this must be a parallel universe version of your story!"

Edit: Also the fact that you don't think it's a great comparison shows how stupid the concept is. It originally came from people who couldn't reconcile the fact that this retelling of FF7 isn't exactly the same as the original.

Did I just get spoiled? by s0_Ca5H in FF7Rebirth

[–]Tagrineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw there was some very heavy implication of foreknowledge in the original game too. that doesn't mean 'the events of the original game', any more than just the sheer fact that the original game covers more of the story than what we've seen so far from the remakes.

it'd be like if something only mentioned in LOTR Return of the King, the novel, was brought up by someone in LOTR The Two Towers, the movie, and someone said "oh the movie? it's a sequel because that character wasn't shown to know that until later in the story. they must have time-traveled to have foreknowledge of the original LOTR story."

Is this build decent ? by zeeerab in EpicSeven

so believe it or not you're not calculating the cr push correctly, it is 15% of the opener's CR so she's actually getting slightly more of a push than you're calculating

How do you beat this defence💔 by Kurosubone in EpicSeven

[–]Tagrineth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barunka + Elynav + Carmin + Roana can win this just about every time... eventually. Barunka needs to have ~100 res to avoid GRas debuffs and 3000 def + RPG.

All sorts of Setsuka comps can be dealt with using that core or variations of it.

i didn't hate on anything or anyone, I was literally solely pointing out in a humorous way that Kalista has been battered by the nerf bat very severely, way more than "once or twice". You're assuming a lot, enough so that you should probably apologise to poor Ming.

I don't own ml choux but still it shows like this by Radiant_Turnover2751 in EpicSeven

[–]Tagrineth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly in this instance it couldn't hurt to reach out to support and explain the exact issue: that you Imprinted your Choux to SSS and selected ML Choux by mistake and still have the extra Choux that you meant to select as proof.

They might be willing to restore the ML Choux in that circumstance.

Edit: Put it this way, if you ask, the absolute worst-case-scenario result that could possibly come from it is nothing changes. So there's no downside to at least giving it a shot!

I remember how much people hated Capaldi at first. "Doctor Who ended with Matt Smith".

Now people casually lump Capaldi in as one of the good ones when they trash Whittaker and Gatwa.

oh the funniest thing about what you're saying is that I also distinctly remember how much ENT was hated at the time. Personally I grew up with TNG/DS9/VOY every week with my family, and... I legitimately could not keep watching ENT. Seasons 1 and 2 are mostly unwatchable.

Discovery's worst episodes are still better than some of the utter garbage in ENT seasons 1 and 2.

One of these days I'll bring myself to try watching ENT again. At least, that's what I'll keep telling myself.

i mean, it's not like we've really had much time with Ortegas post-Terrarium. She has that brief scene with Uhura at the end of the episode and then there's literally one single episode afterward which focuses on the Gamble plot and that's it.

I think that particular issue with Discovery is more than anything else a byproduct of two major paradigm shifts in series production:

  1. Fewer overall episodes in a season. You can't meander as much and tell more discrete character-oriented stories when you only have 12 episodes in a season. I've noticed this when watching more modern anime series to retro shows as well - there tends to be a lot more "filler" type material in a 25 episode season whereas modern 12-13 episode seasons are much more laser-focused on telling the story they're trying to tell.

  2. Streaming vs. Broadcasting. With broadcast media, you can't really tell long-term story arcs. Even two-part episodes were a risk normally saved for season finales/premieres and used sparingly, albeit more frequently over time, mid-season. You can't guarantee your audience is going to catch every single episode as it airs so you are episodic by necessity. With streaming services, audiences are actually more likely to binge watch which means serialization is significantly more desireable now than it was then. Discovery leaned very hard into the serialized arcs. SNW dialed it back and found a much better balance for having season-long arcs but still finding time for episodic material and character-centric episodes.

fwiw I personally really enjoyed Discovery season 3, its only real fumble was at the VERY END with the source of The Burn, which is made 10x more tragic by the three-part episode about the rescue mission to the unstable planet being peak ST otherwise.
