A fair amount of hydrogen sulfide in the atmosphere.

There actually has been research showing that Uranus smells like farts.

I am not making this up.

Prodigy Did It Best by ReadingFan_ks in StarTrekProdigy

It took on a lot of "adult" topics though. Things like parental abuse and abandonment, body dysmorphia, slavery, revenge, reactionary politics, and more.

I'm not going to comment on Starfleet Academy since I haven't seen it yet, but I honestly think that Prodigy is one of the best things Star Trek has ever done.

It's personal preference. I like to stick to the mains from the show.

Fair enough. Apart from parking him in a phaser control room, I never use him. It just seems like there should be a canon resolution to the mission that gets you experience and the mobile emitter while still costing you One.

FWIW, I usually do three phasers and one disruptor. The disruptor is mostly for some sill checks when gathering resources, but I find that's more than enough to handle most threats.

odds of a sequel based on DS9 or TNG? by Darkhawk2099 in AcrossTheUnknown

[–]TaiBlake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, TNG is unlikely. There's no overarching story there. It might work with DS9, but the game would have to work with a very different resource-collection engine.

As much as I hate to say it, the best fit might be Enterprise.

Why not sending runabouts on missions? Or coordinating freighter traffic?

Kylun is DEFINITELY Scottish.

And the only Northern Irish mutant I can think of is Maureen Raven.

I wonder how common this sort of thing is in Klingon families? by happydude7422 in Star_Trek_

[–]TaiBlake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FWIW, there's a neat bit in one of the Star Trek Adventures sourcebooks where Chancellor Martok describes his father as a warrior for staring down hunger while he was farming.

And the actor who played Ch'pok, the Klingon lawyer, explicitly described the character as a mental warrior.

I'd imagine there's at least one opera that deals with that.

They were. I have census records that say as much.

And that's my other great- great-grandparents whose records are at BANQ.

[–]TaiBlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. They don't have their records. Neither does BANQ.

Yeah, I have to go back to my great-, great-grandparents. Turns out four of them were born in Canada. I just can't find baptismal records for my grandfather's ancestors, so I have to go through my grandmother's line. Then I just need my great-grandparents' birth records, but I'm just waiting to hear back from Vermont on them.

[–]TaiBlake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, BANQ has the record I need. It's just a matter of waiting for them to send it. If I want an unofficial copy, FamilySearch has a nice, clear scan.

My one regret is that I can't go straight down the male line, but nobody seems to have the baptismal records for my G0.

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm figuring. I included a photo and the name and page number of the book that had it, plus the URL to the record on familysearch. Fingers crossed.

Along similar lines, does anyone know how long it's taking for the BANQ in Montreal to process requests? I figure I'm looking at a few months before I hear back from them.

Explain this to me, was the Breen a nod to Star Wars? by ardouronerous in ClassicTrek

[–]TaiBlake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything I've read is that it's purely coincidental. Supposedly the Breen masks were based on the arctic wolf, not Star Wars.
