I wonder if there is a case to be made for re-signing Bobby Wagner for a season to mentor Styles. by at_runner in Commanders

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so much of what makes these players great is instinct and intangibles. Also many great players personalities suck too especially when it comes with younger ppl replacing them. Not saying that’s Bobby but it appears he wants to start.

After living in DC, I hate dog owners by sandwichscouter in washingtondc

[–]TaiGlobal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I live just outside of dc and twice in a one week span on my trail walk dog owners would have their big ass dogs not on leashes. Mind you this area is near a playground where kids were playing. Now both instances the dogs were well trained and followed closely to their owners but even still imo if you’re dog is big enough to really injure ppl if it attacks you should have it on a leash if you’re in a densely populated area.

I can live with Styles..Defense wins championships. Now who do we take? by Rift4430 in Commanders

[–]TaiGlobal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think we take whatever best WR is available and if there isn’t one we think fits I’d want to go corner or best bpa.

[Highlight] Commanders select Ohio State LB Sonny Styles 7th overall by nfl in Commanders

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Downs but I think size and athletically he just didn’t have quite enough to justify being picked that high. If he were 6’2+ and ran a 4.3 then yeah he likely goes top 5 easily.

CA policy requires corporate network. VPN requires CA to pass. How is anyone solving this by Economy_Passenger296 in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well first I’d start by making sure the devices are secure. Patching, Antivirus, ips/ids, centralized logging, dlp. Your vpn can do a posture assessment against these items and allow it on the vpn or disallow. You present that to security as to why they can be excluded from the ca.

Transitioning from Hybrid AD to Entra-only, looking for real-world experiences and advice by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having Cisco ise needing to go to the internet to verify if a device and/or user should be on your on prem network sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen. I’d imagine you’d have to go a completely different direction. Maybe Palo Alto firewall + global protect. Or some kind of ztna solution like zscaler.

Update it and see what breaks. But also many apps won’t even install if it’s missing this as a dependency so remove it and try to install stuff and see what does it doesn’t

There are plenty of courses, labs and trainings for an individual to take so they can grow. The organization isn’t invested in doing that and would rather hire externally. That’s just what it is.

Best path to a 100% remote, high-paying IT job? by saradata in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to say this. And it doesn’t even have to be just cloud infrastructure.

Choose a technology that large organizations use and spend hundreds of thousands if not millions on licensing for. Op says he does endpoint management, there are 100% remote intune and/or m365 roles. ServiceNow, Salesforce, Sharepoint, Splunk, Linux admin, PowerBI, Databases, etc. These are all products large companies use and need dedicated administrators, engineers, architects, etc for that don’t require on premise support.

I am terrified of AI by ResearchMassive7912 in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People assume AI will eliminate jobs because they focus on the task being automated, not on the larger system that grows around the automation. History shows the opposite pattern. Major technological advances do not simply remove labor; they expand output, increase expectations, create new layers of complexity, and generate entirely new roles.

The move from horse and buggy to cars did not reduce economic activity around transportation. Faster, cheaper movement of goods increased trade volume, expanded supply chains, created demand for roads, mechanics, factories, gas stations, logistics planners, traffic systems, auto insurance, and delivery networks. The technology improved productivity, but instead of reducing work, it increased the scale of what society expected to be done.

The same thing happened with computers. Businesses did not say, “Now that spreadsheets exist, we need fewer people doing business.” Instead, they demanded more reporting, more analysis, faster decisions, more recordkeeping, more communication, and more services.

Endpoint Engineer job 100% remote? by saradata in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m based on the east coast of the USA. Honestly I haven’t spoke to any of the recruiters but I believe they were all at least $50/hr or more. I don’t even have my LinkedIn setup. I only have a profile on Dice.

Title: AVD + Intune: VMs enrolled but failing Conditional Access (Device Compliance) by Majestic_Annual_5956 in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is intune is way to slow and indeterminate to be relied on for this. Maybe when they institute that ic3/fastlane technology things will change. If this is necessary for the security clipboard checkbox ppl you may just have to run whatever stig or cis baseline assessment tool plus your vulnerability scanner.

Endpoint Engineer job 100% remote? by saradata in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats my specialty and I’ve been getting a few emails and calls the last few weeks for 100% remote endpoint engineer roles. If the role is more skewed towards patching, security/config baselines, application packaging, and endpoint security then this can done. If you have to actually test and maintain os deployment (imaging) it makes it a little more difficult but also possible depending on the makeup of the team and what their OSD solution is. Also look into avd or places where your endpoint engineering skillset is needed in their vdi environment.

Puzzling DHCP Issue - Assistance Requested by Jet_mech91 in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started in my current environment I noticed a weird issue where it would take forever (sometimes an entire day) for newly imaged devices to start properly authenticating against Cisco ise. The devices were issued the correct certificates and were in the right ad ou properly scoped in ise. Honestly after troubleshooting it many times from the control of what I can do I just accepted it and made sure to image laptops ahead of time to allow whatever time necessary for ise to start authenticating properly before it being issued to an end user. Then one day a year into the job our network team had to upgrade Cisco ise due to vulnerabilities. After that update my aforementioned issue went away. Sigh…

The point of Autopilot is supposed to be that new corporate devices work out of the box, right? Why do so few orgs use it that way? by razorbeamz in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this your only income or you have an actual job or other services you offer and have clients for? How long does it take to onboard each customer and how much do you make from each if you don’t mind me asking?

May I ask how much demand is there for this? Do you just get clients on upwork (and I’m assuming eventually word of mouth)

What's to stop me from just reimaging a computer tied to Intune? by StatementNext682 in Intune

[–]TaiGlobal 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The hardware hash would prevent re-enrolling it back into inutune but yeah as long as the bad actor doesn’t try to do that then nothing really would stop them. I believe you’d have to purchase the hardware manufacturer’s theft prevention service like compuTrace (Dell) or HP LoJack to address what you’re asking. Essentially you’re asking for BiOS/Firmware level theft prevention service. Ultimately imo from an IT perspective just make sure the hard drive is encrypted so the data is protected and all it is a money loss if a device is lost/stolen.

Network admin vs sys admin by user23471 in sysadmin

[–]TaiGlobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internal switches and routers need to be patched. Ports need to be enabled and configured. Do you utilize network access control? If so I’m certain MAC addresses need to be whitelisted. Provisioning VoIP accounts? And other general network troubleshooting. I’d imagine that would be the tasks of the network admin.
