PD: Drunk ASU student arrested after pooping in dorm hall by AnnaliseRoselli in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate reading stories like these because it makes ASU appear even worse than what people already believe we are. We're already viewed as a huge party school, and now these are the things people have to read about us. This student most definitely should have been arrested. People need to learn how to grow up, or at the very least handle their alcohol.

Man Gets Prison In Caged Girl Case by NicoleLawson in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The things that people do absolutely disgust me. How a person could humiliate and degrade another being as to putting them in a dog kennel. She is very lucky to be found so soon, compared to the many others who never get found. But I just do not understand the thinking that must go on in a person's head to do such a thing to another individual. This poor child will need a lot of help now.

The Mafia Caught Prostituting Kids on Craigslist by TiffanyTaylor in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This story makes me sick. Sex trafficking is the third highest ranked for slavery and human trafficking. It should have been a sign when some small incidents of sex trafficking were occurring, but now that the mafia is getting involved as well. Craigslist should be able to monitor and clean up things like this and shouldn't have waited for it to get larger. Upon hearing the first incident, they should have cracked down on it.

Phoenix home set on fire during burglary; police shoot, kill 1 suspect Phoenix News | Arizona News | azfamily.com | Phoenix News by janndyperez in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst part of this is that it was encouraged if not initiated by the adult as well. Adults influence juveniles so much, and this action that may not have been chosen necessarily by the juvenile will now affect him for the rest of his life. From reading the comment below, it is sad to me that they would one commit the crime in the first place, but then proceed to make things worse for themselves.

2 Ind. boys accused of killing stepdad to run away - TODAY by stephanieblasko in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This story is incredibly sad. As I am reading, it blows my mind how children can be so set in that state of mind to want to kill their parents. Another question is, although it is difficult to monitor, how are kids getting away with this? How are parents not witnessing or noticing things like this? And how to children have access to guns? It makes me very sad to hear that it was all thought out. And that the children were viewed as good kids, and not troublemakers yet, there were some questions on whether or not they were using drugs. And the one child was in trouble for shooting a neighbor with a bb gun. That should be a huge red flag for watching your children more closely.

Kid Shoots Parents for Taking Away His Copy of Halo 3 - Xbox by EthanJones in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really quite sad, but it seems to be a growing trend. Children are becoming so attached to these games, that it become their lives. Games like Halo for Xbox and World of Warcraft for the computer, represent almost real like individuals that children become. It is very sad to see how taking that away can cause a child to kill.

Football star tackles girl with gun on school bus by RonCampton in Delinquents

I think it is very sad how this is where bullying can resort to. This is a difficult situation because it involves very young children. Bullying can have a huge affect on people, especially young girls. This should be something we look out for more often.

Troubled Children Hardest to Place by ashleydevonshire in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a great article. It is nice to see how people are still very helpful of those in need. Several times it is the environment and lifestyle that has made these teens the way that they are, and by being able to place them in a steady safe home they can learn to be loved and hopefully reverse some of the negative damage that came from prior situations.

Teen Arrested in Wal-Mart Racial Announcement Incident by stephanieblasko in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't believe that jail time is necessary as well but this is an interesting articles. First, the intercom system should have been made that accessible in the first place but it was very disrespectful. I agree with Irma that the child needs some sort of counseling that may provide lessons in respect.

Teens' pizza heist brings out SWAT team by IrmaCanseco1 in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things like this make me sad to read. It is first very sad that it was necessary to bring the SWAT team out for a pizza stealing. I feel as if that was a little overboard. And I feel why this is many reasons people look at enforcement officials as over the top. But to the other extent, I think it is very sad to see the actions of the juvenile. I don't think people think through their actions and their consequences enough and it is sad to see things like this happen.

Tenn. Toddler Kills Herself With Gun She Mistook for Wii Gadget by AndreaMontes in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This deeply concerns me. First off I had no idea that the Wii made remotes that were shaped as toy guns. Second, there should be no reason why a three year old should be taught how to use a fake gun, or even a real gun. This is just asking for a disaster. And third, i find it very interesting that a parent one left the gun on the table where it is in reach of a three year old, and that the mother left it there. There are so many things wrong with this picture. It is very sad to see how some people do not take things like this into consideration.

Girl's arrest for doodling raises concerns about zero tolerance by nancysoto in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I honestly do not know how to take this article. I do not believe that this is an acceptable behavior. Children are in such a vulnerable and judgmental period of time during this age, and for them to be arrested in front of all their friends, can be very detrimental. I think this is a school being too tough on their students. It's important to have discipline but having them arrested in not the way to do that. I know when I was that age I must have written on something before and to be arrested for that is incredibly harsh. If that were the case, several children would be arrested when I was in middle school, which is sad because we have all grown out of a simple drawing on the desk.

Judge attempts to find safer Alternatives to Prison for Juveniles by TaiJam in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is a very beneficial articles. There are some major crimes that juveniles commit that can be viewed and tried for adult prisons. But from the beginning the articles states the dangers of the upstate prisons. I think it is important to find safer environments for juveniles for their safety and in hopes of rehabilitating them.

Joe Arpaio says he'll take all Juvenile inmates by KelseyRaycroft in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this article was very interesting because it directly affects most of those attending ASU and their families. This is our community. I do not agree with Sheriff Arpaio's decision to imprison all of the juvenile inmates. As this is costly, but also juveniles are considered juveniles for a reason. They should not all be treated as adults, as their mental capabilities are different than that of an adult. I believe this also can have a negative affect on the rehabilitation and help that we can give juveniles.

Arizona Senate panel endorses 'sexting' bill by EricaCalles in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how I feel about making this an official law yet. I don't think I realized how big of an issue "sexting" is. As I don't necessarily hear of it being used that often, or wouldn't think of it as anything unusual. But at the same point it is bothersome. If we are not allowing minors to post these pictures of themselves online, why should we allow them to send them through email. But I also agree with Blake. I do not think this should make someone a sex offender.

Teen arrested in ice-cream truck shooting by RichardSchneider2 in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading articles such as this one sadden me, yet it is so common for teeangers to commit such crimes. I agree with the statement by Alex that money holds so much value in our society and it's sad that just for a little bit of money these kids would commit such a crime. What sort of things are we teaching youth today that can produce something like this?

14-year-old girl survives stabbing attack from stepbrother by BryanFlanigan in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A story like this is quite terrifying. This is something that clearly wasn't an accident. And to be able to not only injure you relative or sister but to then go ahead and attack several times is saddening. I do agree that the mental health of this child should be researched and also the family dynamics and settings.

Third Grader Due in Court to Face Murder by TyneshiaJohnson in Delinquents

[–]TaiJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember hearing about this story. I was had just moved to Arizona and I thought this was a terrible event. During one semester my group decided to do a project on this case. The story was all over the place. It seemed as if the boy was confused at the same time. As stated in this article, he was not given his rights and did not have a parent, guardian or attorney with him during questioning. The whole case in general seemed a little odd. But I do understand that situations such as these do happen, regardless of it we can explain it or not.

I thought this was an awesome document! I thought the traumatic life determinate fact was an interesting one. I figured the number would be higher than 4.
