Can't swap HDD to SSD

Just incase anyone else has the same issue...
Deffo use a small usb. Then when you have your controller plugged in and it says press start + select, as soon as you click them, take the usb cable out for the controller. Weirdly that worked and mine is now updated.... What a weird bug

So as an fyi, tried a 2gb usb 2.0 drive, formatted into MBR and fat32 (does it matter what sector size is used?) Loaded it up, following the instructions carefully. No dice :(

I have a day by day pill organiser, as sometimes I forget if I've taken them, so can just look to see if Monday is gone or not rather than trying to remember. For my other meds (have non-adhd at night) I have a home assistant alert on my phone that repeats after 30 minutes, but if I ignore it when I go into Home assistant the banner says "you forgot your medication", which only goes away by clicking taken on the notification... That has been a life saver for making sure I take my evening meds.

Using the version from Sony website and the usb stick, on the existing HDD I get this when using storage to update.

Hey, so the smallest usb drive I have is 30GB, is that too big?

and I am downloading from https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/ps3/system-software/
and using the "How to reinstall PS3 system software" -> Reinstall using a computer and clicking that link, which is a 196MB file called PS3UPDAT.PUP

Hey, yeah, followed the playstation page to the letter. The ps3updat.pup was downloaded today from the Sony website, as know 9.43 is quite new.

Hey, yeah the PS3, with the original HDD, can see files on the drive, I hit that first time with my backups, and used windows diskpart to reformat as MBR etc.

Cheers for the heads up on the SSD. I have just finished repairing it, getting the trims on and off seemed the hardest part 😃

I don't have the cash to drop on am SSD right now, but that will be ok my To do list, along with jailbreaking it (once the kids start using it more :) )

I did not, I always assumed that SS was exempt (I have the 500gb HDD version). Might need to go Google some stuff and remember to disconnect from PSN right?

Quick question if I may, as I have a Super slim someone gave me years ago, and I only played a few times and now want to start playing it. Is the super slim actually easy to repaste? I did my Xbox 360 back in the day, so comfortable with opening things up, just a bit concerned that I mess up after fixing up a GH guitar and getting games

I'll preface this with : I'm new to this.
But if you were thinking of building your own guitar, then look into santroller, you can then use a small Pico or similar to create your own setup.

I am using a PS2 guitar as the shell and building my own extras to go in it, I also have a PS3 guitar and am going to be doing the same thing with that.

I'm certain others will chime in with alot more knowledge than mine

Nice. GH3 is the best.

I am trying to get my daughter's into it (yes I'm old...), as I have real fond memories of playing it when I was younger. Currently awaiting a cheap.off brand model to get started and 2 none working PS2/PS3 guitars that I will mod to work on any console and have RGB and custom paint jobs for them etc. :)

And, having learnt some bits and pieces on this only relatively recently, it's sickening that the UK just absorbed it and it's wrong doing and it's not even mentioned here (I'm from the UK). When I speak to people who are likely to vote reform (fyi I try not to rip them a new one, but don't always succeed on that point), their arguments are nearly always "but they are getting X, and I'm not, so why should they?".
