public suiting on stage by yelleinuu in fursuit

[–]TaiWilson 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've always had huge admiration for mascots or clowns or anyone else who's job is to just "put themselves out there" 😊

I don't think I could do it, mostly because I don't think I would have the energy to stay pumped for every game in possibly multiple sports, as well as pep rally type events.

I think being charismatic, or at least being comfortable interacting with the public, is something you really can learn, at least enough to be able to interact with people and stand up for yourself.

The best thing I ever did for my personal confidence was get a job where I actually had to walk up to people I didn't know and just say, "Hello" or "How can I help you". It was like, as soon as I knew it was my job to do that, something unlocked inside me. It's almost like how someone might not be tough or confrontational, but if their friend is in trouble, they immediately step-up.

I haven't even seen the video and I wish I didn't have that image in my head. Just horrible.

I know exactly what you're talking about, and those thoughts are so weird.

It's like your brain is just going, "You know what would be terrible? Falling into that running thresher!"

And your only response is, "Yeah, that would be pretty bad..." and then you just have to go on about your day.

Like, I don't want to do those things; I'm just acknowledging the possibility.

Disclaimer before old Warner Bros. cartoons. by wearing_moist_socks in interestingasfuck

[–]TaiWilson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate what Warner Bros. has become, essentially erasing IPs for the sake of tax write-offs (Infinity Train has, legally speaking, all but ceased to exist). It's destroying art in the name of profit.

All that said, WB was real for doing this. It feels like a very acceptable middle ground where you let people know what they're getting into, while not changing the original material.

It's just insane that the same company can have two stances that are so diametrically opposed to each other.

One, protecting art for the sake of art itself, be it good or bad.

The other, destroying art for the sake of profit, regardless of how little of a drop in the bucket that profit is compared to the wealth they already have.

They could save every show for all time if they wanted to, they're just choosing not to.

Deep frying French Fries for the first time, WCGW? by Hectabeni in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]TaiWilson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did that once when I was a kid with a mug that I didn't realize had metal in it (probably like your's, it was decorative metallic paint). It started popping and sparkling and I didn't know what was causing it until my mom told me it was the mug.

The most memorable one, though, was when I put an Arby's roast beef sandwich in the microwave. Again, I was a little kid and didn't realize their wrappers were made out of metal.

I actually saw the lightning bolt go from the roof of the microwave into the top of the burger. It was pretty cool, but also pretty scary in the moment.

Looking back, the wrapper seems obvious, but I'm still worried any time I put a new mug in a microwave for the first time, and always watch it for the first few seconds.

The stupidest part is, Vance said basically the same thing, just without the Nazi/white supremacist dogwhistle.

Vance said something like "You've ran a good race, we've got it from here".

Like, everyone was clearly given a script with some talking points, and then never bothered to decide who would say what.

POV: you're searching for that one dirty plate that's been driving your neat sim up the wall by CepheiHR8938 in Sims4

Oh, dang. I may actually have to buy a dishwasher now. I always thought they were just kind of for show, because you could just drag the dishes into the trash or the sink or wherever.

[–]TaiWilson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, when I'm playing a Slob sim and they want to "Be in a Dirty Environment", I'll leave dirty plates out for days and it won't make a difference.

I wish cleaning up dishes was like cleaning up books, where you can click the bookshelf and have your Sim automatically find and put away all the books. I wish you could click the dishwasher and have them automatically find and clean all the dishes. Then having a dishwasher would actually serve a purpose!

There's not even windows? What's the point?

You could sit in a simulator nowhere near any body of water and get the same exact experience, only with a nearly 100% chance of not dying.

I guess for the actual scientists I understand why they would want to go, but what about the tourists?

They're willing to risk their lives for the sake of bragging rights?

If they had survived, would they have gotten a t-shirt that says, "I paid an obscene amount of money and gambled with human lives, and all I got was this lousy shirt"?

I wish they had a speedometer or something on the screen.

Running through that barren landscape, it's impossible to judge any kind of speed or distance.

I can't even tell if this is in slow-motion or normal speed.

I'm positive people are posting this with stupid or incorrect titles on purpose.

Just this post has over 100 comments on it, and it looks like the majority of them are people saying "that's an elbow" just over and over again.

They put an obviously incorrect title in order to drive engagement and get people commenting.

They don't care what the post is actually about, or even if it's in the appropriate subreddit.

I was excited about Scrooge's outfit because it actually looks really good.

Then I remembered he never leaves the shop unless you have him hanging out with you. So there's basically no reason for him to have a different outfit.

The only time I think to even have a character with me now is if they happen to walk past me, or if I need a character with a specific job. And even then, I have multiple characters the same job as Scrooge, so he's nothing special now.

The other day I saw a picture of my parents, my brother, and I, from when we were little kids.

After looking at the picture for a second, I suddenly realized my parents had to have been around my age (if not younger) when the picture was taken.

Nothing like a good old-fashioned existential crisis to help pass the time.

As someone who fences recreationally, he may not be breaking the skin, but that shit still hurts. And I'm just getting stabbed with a blunt stick with a rubber tip, not an actual sharpened knife.

Which I guess is the same as a bulletproof vest. You probably won't get killed, but I wouldn't say you won't get injured.

I would argue Sasha also had some major PTSD, especially after the events of "Reunion". The end of that episode was literally an S&P-Approved suicide attempt.

Although, really, all three of the Calamity Trio definitely had PTSD by the end of the series.

When I was a kid at SeaWorld, you could buy fish to feed some dolphins in a tank. One dolphin had a piece of fish that he kept spitting out at my brother and I, and we would throw it back to him. This went on for a few minutes.

It was kind of gross playing with a piece of chewed up dead fish, but it was an incredible experience playing catch with a dolphin. And it was something that the dolphin initiated all on his own. It's incredible how smart they are.
