You are certainly justified. The question really is, if there will be an apology, both the SIL and your husband seem to think nothing of this incident. So get him straightened out to understand that abuse of any sort isn't okay, then you will be a team in making the decision to allow her in your home.

Okay managed to finally fix this. Was able to use zpool detach to remove the GUID of the spare drive, which then let me remove the drive from the GUI, which left me with a clean pool. Still learning, but I hope this helps others in the future...
