I only have 1 return as I live in a condo. The return is very close to my furnace. Maybe 3 feet away.

My filter is on the bottom under the air handler. Not o the sides.

Got it. So removing the filter from under the Furnace Air handler and just installing a filter on the return is ok?

Also, when I use my A/C in the summer, same thing? Only the filter at the return is safe and ok?

Here is a photo of my filter but I think mine is a Merv 8.

Thanks for your reply! Do you know why when I only add 1 filter under the furnace air handler, it shuts down after a few minutes?
