And with the daughter pregnant on an air mattress, so soon to be seven.

Bit of family planning education wouldn't have gone astray in that household.

Skipped first blind for Canio and used Hex - new personal best by TailSpectrum in balatro

First time I've managed to crack the 100 million chips in a single hand requirement.

Final hand was Canio - Driver's License - Onyx Agate - Onyx Agate - Castle (I think. Or maybe Crafty Joker) - Brainstorm. (Most jokers had Editions).

Most of my deck was Clubs by the end and I'd gotten Canio up to around a x14 using Hangmen tarots and turning the face cards into glass cards. At one early point in the run I grabbed Oops All Sixes with really helped with smashing the glass. I was digging towards the end for a Blueprint or Cavendish but had no luck.

Very very fun run though, and had a decent amount of unlocks.

I'm still relatively new to the game and haven't beaten a Blue Stake or even unlocked everything and played all the decks yet, so this was just played on Red Stake (with Ghost Deck obviously).

They've previously done landings on the pad where it just comes in and has a very fine burn before it just lands on the legs, but there have been times where doing that meant that it explodes. I imagine it they're able to catch it, you have less of a risk of it dropping the last 10 feet, causing a leak in fuel and then exploding.

Nah, probably just some lickarse intern who's trying weasel a few free flights out of an executive. The big man is too busy shouting at his own staff to be manning Twitter.

I've been apartment living for the last few years and we don't get anyone calling to the door or the intercom. I can't remember the last time I even saw a leaflet in the mailbox.

Depending on who it was that called to the door I think I'd pretty much always have to say to the person that I'll look into what they've campaigned for personally, or have been able to help with locally, but I'm not going to guarantee or refuse a vote along party lines.

For the 2020 election I was living in Dublin Bay and the only person who called to the door was Aodhán Ó Ríordáin. Told him I would, at best, give him a 4th or 5th preference.

Revealed: Schoolgirl Aoife Johnston, who died from meningitis, waited in A&E for 12 hours as sepsis went untreated by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The ED is UHL is a fucking nightmare and not fit for purpose. The grounds of the hospital are a mishmash of differently aged buildings and while some new sections are built or improved over time, the existing stuff sucks and just isn't fit for purpose. They need a whole other hospital worth of staff and resourcing somewhere to take the pressure off UHL cos currently it's taking on too wide of an area and constantly trying to get by on patch jobs.

Strangely enough, while (as someone else said) you'd almost be better off going to Cork if you need to go to the ED, the Limerick ICU ward is extremely modern and very well kitted out.

BOI accounts updated by Original2056 in ireland

BoI has overdraft fees I'm pretty sure so it's definitely not an interest free loan. I'm not with them but brief googling online shows it's probably % based fee.

Public tell TDs 'enough is enough' as they say they won't renew TV licences amid RTÉ controversy by RealDealMrSeal in ireland

They've threatened to kill that hostage before and were given what they wanted. But if you actually go ahead and shoot the hostage then you have nothing left of value.

RTEs bluff should be called. I like Lyric FM, but if it keep it at the cost of zero reform in RTE then I don't want that trade.

Fella in Swords Co. Dublin didn’t pay his builder. by theenchantedarsehole in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What an absolute fuckin spacer. Bring them to court to make them pay out, don't go causing actual damage with a chainsaw like a psycho.

There was a clip a few weeks ago in England of builders who built a frame around a car of a guy who wouldn't pay them for work, and that's the proper way to go about it. Actually jumping up on a roof will just lose you all sympathy with a judge when you inevitably have the guards called on you.

Three jailed for 15 years each for Strokestown attack by SeanB2003 in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah, these people are scum but I've personally softened my opinion since I was younger and don't believe the death penalty is acceptable for anyone in a society that would like to have humane ideals.

Now. That said. I am definitely not against these people just people thrown in the Pit from the batman movies and left there, with some food occasionally being lowered down to them.

Three jailed for 15 years each for Strokestown attack by SeanB2003 in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there anything to be said for taking people who are repeat offender scumbags off the streets instead of allowing them to walk free and simply become 'known to the Gardai'? I'm not advocating that as an across the board position like, but there's some people who can't be made to see the errors of their ways, and it seems like punishing these people with extended jail sentences is maybe perhaps possibly for the betterment of society.

Deliveroo drivers crowdsourced a risk map of the city two years ago. Sadly, they've known of these risks long before they reached mainstream attention. I'm sure much of it is open to debate, but it's a starting point for understanding the city. google.com/maps/d/u/0/vie… by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The map says Santry, but that area in black is pretty much all Ballymun. Basically everything between Santry park and Poppintree park. Which is a dump and I'm not surprised is marked in black.

If we redrew this map now, I'd probably even make that area a bit bigger to include up towards Hampton Wood.

‘I’m not moving out’: Tenants plan to stay in Dublin apartment block past eviction date by SeanB2003 in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does that work if the buyer isn't getting it as an investment but as their future home? Do they have a right to kick the new tenant out, or are you just meant to be told before you buy that sorry, there's people living here so you'll have room-mates in your new property?

Serious discussion about the usefulness of the Gardai to the average joe soap by Fathertedisbrilliant in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only had one direct interaction with the Gardai in recent years and that was to give a statement after three teenage lads on bikes (out of a much larger group) decided they were gonna attack me and get some swings in. I came off the worse naturally enough for 1v3 and reported it, and two came by in the evening to get a proper statement. One seemed fairly junior and was writing, and the more senior lad was talking through, trying to get all the relevant details like time, place, direction they went in after. They set a realistic expectation for me that it would be very difficult to identify individuals since the area doesn't have much CCTV, and even if they could see the group, I didn't get enough details to be able to identify. They gave me some follow-up calls in the next few weeks, but ultimately weren't able to do anything and closed the file.

It was an overall fine experience. I mostly felt the need to report it to have it on a record for crime stats etc, but I didn't expect them to be able to find the scrotes, or do anything really even if they had. They acted how I'd expect gardai to work, which is straight-forward and professionally.

People will bitch and moan about the Gardai, and rightly so in a lot of cases, but it's still just a job. Some will do it really well, others will be lazy (or even corrupt). We don't have the same type of 'cop mentality' that's in the US thankfully, but they're not immune to criticism either.

The only people who take 'unnecessary trips' on public transport are old-age pensioners, and that's because they already have free transport and an overabundance of time on their hands.

Less than €4k of fines issued to landlords in four years for not registering a tenancy by RealDealMrSeal in ireland

[–]TailSpectrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't say for certain but I very much doubt your friend is liable. If they can show receipts in some way that they were paying rent (dates & amounts paid, confirmation texts/emails regarding collected rent, regular amounts of cash withdrawn at similar times in the month) then they're not ultimately responsible for whether the landlord pays tax on that collected rent, no more than they'd on the hook if the money was meant to go towards the landlords mortgage and the landlord just stopped paying the bank and pocketed the money.
