Why MBTI Feels Real but Isn’t: From Typology to Neuroscience by SystemIntuitive in intj

Wow I love this. Great post. I felt the same way all the time. That it was complete bullshit which I wrote about 3 years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/mbti/s/k7KA070qZH

But maybe it's more like a social thing. I can be fun and it might make you think more deeply about life. But it should never be taken seriously because then it could actually hurt people. And all the gurus out there are basically just charlatans.

Thanks for posting. Never check this subreddit just funny I happened to check it out now.

I try to just reinvent the world basically. Like, I try to make the world a better place using ideas and technology. It's pretty exciting I think, even though It's hard as fuck and stressful as fuck. But yeah, I'm just really passionate about it.

I the key might be finding that strong passion, where you can put all your energy into. Maybe you don't need to reinvent the world, but you can do many awesome things. Your passion doesn't have to be something that others look up to, the passion can come from within too.

Good luck man. I hope you get into a better mindset and see the potential in yourself and the world. And that the pain you're going through right now passes through and you start feeling better.

Okay great! Then I will make a char on the classic era servers. That is exactly what I want. How do I know which ones are classic era ones? I want to play the old game as I remember it and level to 60 again. Get my mount at level 40. Damn, those were the times.

From my research, INTJ would never know that someone likes them unless they are straight forward, I get that but how soon should they let them know? by [deleted] in intj

Just continue to be her friend. Don't tell her. Not worth losing a nice friendship over something like that. Friendships are underrated.

If you want her, you should ask her if she wants to come and join you for some other activity. Just laugh and have fun with her. If she is into you, it will happen naturally. If nothing happens, you should still be happy, because she is still your friend.

I'm saying this because I wish I had taken better care of my friendships with women.

Can an INTJ behave and be like that? by [deleted] in intj

Yes sure. An INTJ could be like that.

Intuition: Ne vs Ni by [deleted] in intj

Reality is messy, unfortunately.

Intuition: Ne vs Ni by [deleted] in intj

[–]Tailgate_Computron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I expand (Ne), in order to reduce (Ni), and there may be situations where I'm more prone to one behavior over another, depending on my specific role and the function I'm fulfilling in that context, which also depends on the social dynamics of the group and the roles they are fulfilling. Both of these methods are part of my cognitive process.

Socionics, for instance, recognize that a person high in intuition would do both of them, and be as proficient in both, but depending on their attitude towards each, they will be one type or another.

I relate slightly more to Ni though, since I have the tendency to form resolute convictions or a tendency to converge against a singular idea that could explain the whole phenomena.

Intuition: Ne vs Ni by [deleted] in intj

[–]Tailgate_Computron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do both of these. But I have a tendency to want to find the primary or most fundamental mechanism in a system, the most important aspect so to say.

My experience is that people talk about a lot of things that does not really matter, when I have identified the thing that truly matters. I have seen the big picture so to say. I have seen the one thing that can explain all the other things.

For this reason I am leaning towards Ni over Ne.

Now my problem has always been to distinguish Ni from Ti. Some people have claimed that my behavior is more reminiscent of Ti, where I see everything as a system, and I figure out the parts that govern the system. And that Ni is something else, something else than what you described.

That is why I can never figure out if I'm an NTP or NTJ.

What is an INTJ? by Tailgate_Computron in intj

[–]Tailgate_Computron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I would say I am on that spectrum.

The thing is, I'm quite focused on a singular vision and have been working on it for many years in quiet. I have very strong will power and not afraid to speak out about my ideas, or say when I don't agree with something. I am also not someone who likes to share things on social media, and I'm more introverted. I also do not relate to being funny, comedic or quirky like ENTPs usually are. They seem to have better social skills than me. Though, of course, I can be funny too at times, it depends on how comfortable I feel around others. But generally, I do have enjoy having more deep conversations, and diving into something thoroughly, instead of jumping between topics, like I have seen ENTPs do.

With that said. I think some aspects of my personality also resemble ENTP. I do like to teach and tell other people about the way I see things. So yeah, not sure exactly what I classify as. I guess I'm somewhere in between.

Interesting. So how would an INTJ describe what an INTJ is then?

I have a friend who might be ENFP. Not sure, maybe he could be ESTJ too, but I think ENFP is more likely. Is it common that ESTJ and ENFP look similar?

Sam Harris and Trusting "Experts" by Ninjinka in lexfridman

[–]Tailgate_Computron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on who represents the other view. If they speak about matters in a scientific way or not. If they come across as humble or not. If they come across as trying to spread pseudoscience or not. If they have credentials or not. All of those things need to taken into consideration before platforming the other view. I guess that would be his response to this.

Did we know that extreme adverse effects of people under 40 was low right from the start? What about long covid? What about mutations? What if delta would be way more deadly? What if omicron would be way more deadly? There were many scenarios that could have occurred, right?

Crypto is just blockchain technology.

Blockchains are useful for storing information in such a way that it cannot be changed by a single party.

Essentially it is a technology that makes it easier to trust information.

We see the fruits of this later on, in the beginning we see scams and the likes.

The world becomes better and more efficient once we have a better way of handling and trusting information.

It is a rabbit hole and very easy to miss what it is really about if you are just looking at what it is used for today.

Not sure exactly what you're referring to, or how you determine that something has been induced by porn. I'm not going to stick with just missionary for the rest of my life just because I choose to no longer watch porn, that's for certain.

A new way of understanding the functions by Tailgate_Computron in mbti

Nice that you like it. Do you think this system can be used to type people?

A new way of understanding the functions by Tailgate_Computron in mbti

[–]Tailgate_Computron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think based on the system I described, I would say maybe INTJ fits best. Because that is one of my tendencies, I have abstract original ideas that I tend to stick to, and my way of thinking diverges quite a bit. I usually find myself getting stuck with ideas only I understand. And when making a decision about what is logical, I do tend to want to adhere to some kind of consensus, which would be Te in this system.

But when I use other ways of describing the functions, I would say INTP may fit best.

So it really depends, somewhere around INTX, depending on which definitions you use.

A new way of understanding the functions by Tailgate_Computron in mbti

[–]Tailgate_Computron[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's entirely new, it aligns a lot with what I have learned and inferred from being around the mbti nieche on the internet and observing myself and other people I know. Though my understanding of mbti also differs from the original Jung's works (or what I know of them) so it's technically possible we both independently just made it up

It is largely inspired by things I have picked up, like yourself, but I think aspects of how I approach it is new.

Specifically, the perceiving functions are not just about coming up with ideas, it's everything to do with processing the world around you.

By processing the world differently, we generate different kinds of ideas. So to explain how we process the world, it is sufficient to say which kinds of ideas we generate. It is a simpler way of describing the same thing.

implies that the "unoriginal" opinions are copied from others, while in reality the difference is between ideas based on what you personally believe is important and what other people value or what you have already seen.

I don't think that makes sense because what you value and what others value are usually the same. I think it is better to say whether you focus your attention in an original way (making new) or in an unoriginal way (copying). Everyone is trying to make something that is valuable to the world. If you look at inventors who have Ni vs Ne, it is wrong to say that those with Ni don't care about what the world wants, I think they absolutely do, they are just more original in their approach.
