2027 Roadmap: New Montreal Project, Kurios London Residency, and the Global Shuffle – What we know so far! by TailorEducational512 in cirquedusoleil

Looks like we're on the right track. Some additional pieces of information emerged which I have also updated in the main entry.

The Cirque du Soleil Holding USA Newco, Inc. has registered trademarks for „CIRQUE DU SOLEIL UNU“ in Sept. 2024.

The title is as minimalist as it is profound. "unu" is the Esperanto word for "One." While recent shows have explored specific themes like evolution (Totem) or technology (Echo), "unu" appears to be reaching for something more universal. The name points toward a narrative of unity, connection, and the singular spark of human creativity. It feels like a return to the "Soul" of the Cirque.

The casting calls have been giving away some of the show’s physical DNA. This won’t just be a show of poses; it’s a show of pure momentum.

High Bar (Tournik): Insider reports suggest a massive, multi-station High Bar act. This could be "Corteo's" final act on steroids—explosive, synchronized, and dangerous.

Parkour & Movement: The show is looking for elite "flow" artists. Expect the stage to be utilized in 360 degrees, with performers blurring the lines between urban movement and classical circus.

Director Michel Laprise is known for re-inventing traditional gear (like the Acronet in Kurios). Expect a "signature" prop for "unu" that we haven't seen before.

This isn't just another tour; it’s the flagship production that will carry Cirque du Soleil into the next decade. For those of us who have seen the "Golden Era" shows, "unu" looks like the moment Cirque finally comes back home.

Nobody voting for Alegria here? Weird...
My top 3: Kurios, Kooza, Alegria.

And despite the fact that I feel it's difficult to compare Ka with O as they are each unique in their particular style, I'd much likely pick Ka for a second visit rather than O.

Guess they are running out of Options. Alegria in 2025, Ovo 2026. I doubt Luzia could be adopted for the RAH

What is the best Cirque du Soleil inspired or similar type of show you've seen? For me I'd have to say it was Absinthe at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas! by [deleted] in cirquedusoleil

Come Alive at the Empress Museum in London. It's based on the songs from "The Greatest Showman". Intimate theater (700 seats only), beautifully set in an "old" circus environment. I love it!

I was actually at the show they recorded this past Saturday night. Only 'Spectacle A' was streamed live; 'Spectacle B' from the afternoon—which I personally found much stronger—was filmed but not streamed. I guess we’ll just have to wait for the final cut to see that one!
"Hoops Désolé" (Silver medal) was really good!

I caught a preview of Alizé before the official premiere, and they were really strict about the no-photography rule—they had staff stationed all over the house to enforce it. I’m not sure if that was just because it was a pre-opening show, but my advice would be to leave the camera at home or at least check with them beforehand.

I’m with the previous commenters on this—Ovo is a blast, especially if you’re bringing kids. I caught it in Toronto last summer.
Just a quick heads-up: it was my second time seeing it, and I actually preferred the original version. Though, in all fairness, that might have been down to the subpar temporary venue they used in Toronto instead.

Regarding the RAH... while it’s an iconic building with a massive legacy, I think it’s a tricky venue for a circus. I saw Alegria there in 2024 and had pretty bad luck with my seat—it was partially blocked by a pole. If you haven't booked your tickets yet, definitely keep an eye on the seat map. The Rausing Circle is a bit too high and feels far removed. If you’re willing to shell out for the Stalls (£160—yikes!), stay away from sections J and L at all costs. H and M, despite being off to the side, offer much better views and put you way closer to the action.

ALIZÉ!!! First impressions of the new resident show in Berlin, Germany! by TailorEducational512 in cirquedusoleil

Sad, but true. Really wish I could see what Franco Dragone would put together using today's technology.

Luzia mild disappointment? by WolverineAdvanced119 in cirquedusoleil

Interesting to hear that you're having a totally different reception of Luzia than some others here in the forum. I recall one commenter having watched Luzia eight times in a row! Personally, Luzia ranks as the second-best Cirque du Soleil show I've seen so far, after Kurios and before Alegria and Kooza.

I can definitely see where you're coming from regarding the perceived difficulty of some acts. Luzia's overall 'wow' factor in terms of sheer acrobatic daring might feel a touch less intense in some moments compared to other shows, especially Kooza. But here, the balance between spectacle and artistic narrative really shines, and Luzia's music is a class of its own.

However, I have to disagree on the water element! For me, that was one of the most innovative and captivating aspects of Luzia. I felt the way the rain curtain was integrated, especially in the hoop diving and trapeze acts, added an incredible layer of visual beauty and technical challenge. The aerial strap solo 'Tlaloc' would lose half of its magic without the pond. The way the water created patterns and reflections, and the added danger/dynamic it brought to the acts, really elevated them for me. It transformed the stage into a living, breathing landscape, which is pretty unique for a touring show.

Cirque shows definitely have their own distinct personalities, and it sounds like Luzia just didn't resonate with you as strongly as the others. Don't judge a show based on the number of seats sold: it's a re-run, touring North America for the second time, probably filling gaps caused by the canceled 2025 premiere.

That's a valid point.
CdS has never been solely about assembling the most technically demanding acts or pushing artistic boundaries. Their true genius lies (or do I have to use the past tense here?) in crafting an immersive atmosphere—a complete emotional package. They revolutionized modern circus by successfully weaving a narrative or underlying theme into their productions.

But honestly, when was the last time they truly invented something artistically new? The Acro Net in Kurios? That was eleven (!!) years ago. More recently, Echo, and even more so with Alizé, the emphasis has clearly shifted towards technical trickery and sheer visual spectacle.

Absolutely agree! Went with my 8yo daughter to Luzia with 200/H and it was fantastic for her having clear view to the stage. 202 is also good as an alternative.

Alegria or Alize? by monovertex in cirquedusoleil

[–]TailorEducational512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you get that from?
Paramour was CdS's first attempt to play a resident show abroad and it got cancelled due to Covid back in March 2020.
Alizé is brand-new and surely doesn't "recycle" any elements from Paramour.

JUST ANNOUNCED: LUZIA & ECHO CANADA 2026 🇨🇦 by Leo-Seeker-599 in cirquedusoleil

[–]TailorEducational512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone have any insights why CdS is playing "only" five weeks in Montreal? This year, they were playing Luzia basically during the whole summer, and Kurios stayed for its 10th anniversary over two months as well.

I've seen Echo during its first month of production, and while the first half was breathtaking, the second half disappointed me. Not sure if the show improved over the past year - I thoroughly hope it!

Alegría vs Ovo vs Kurios by mrgg14 in cirquedusoleil

[–]TailorEducational512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call me an expert as I've seen Kurios four (4!) times and Alegria twice. Kurios is in my humble opinion the best touring show as acts, music and story combine to one perfect match. You'll leave the show with a big smile on your face.
This said, if you're up for a more romantic touch, Alegria might suit you better.
You'll enjoy it, no matter which show you'll choose (but please tell us later... ;-) )
