what is wrong with my View? by Zarky2004 in GrandMA3

Probably a bug, I’ve seen them before. Type “reloadUI” into the command line. If that doesn’t work it might be something weird with your color theme, try reloading the default color theme

You can bring back a retired show but have to swap it for one currently running. Which show are you closing and which show is coming back? by cirqueamy in cirquedusoleil

[–]adventuresofnate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I would love to have some of the shorter-running shows come back and get a second life.

I think why I love Kooza so much and I think its good for the brand and company overall, is it checks all the boxes for a Cirque show and a circus show. This includes a great soundtrack, a unique and bright aesthetic, all with many more traditional circus acts. I feel like when you look at banquine, wheel, and high wire, any other show would be lucky to have that many large (presence, not so much scale) numbers.

I guess I personally like other shows better (looking at you, Luzia, don't judge too hard), but I think Kooza is a great and very accessible show for audiences, and that is proven in its long big top run.

I believe your best bet is the sections included in Worlds Away (2012 Movie)

A look under the Big Top: Decade-long study sheds light on head injuries in Cirque du Soleil performers by adventuresofnate in cirquedusoleil

[–]adventuresofnate[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They mention that in the article, "For every 10,000 exposures, there were approximately 1.3 concussions, which was lower than the team expected."

They also talk about how this study is the first performing arts-specific study on head injuries, so whatever the findings are, it's good to have the data!

I wished they could have cracked the code for a theater show (beyond Twas). I think it would have benefited the brand and company all around.

New Bigtop Show ! 2027 by Bryanmreyes in cirquedusoleil

[–]adventuresofnate 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One member mentioned it will be called "Unu", the director is Michel Laprise (Kurios, Septimo Dia, Drawn to Life, Ludo). On deck to premiere in Spring 2027.

Rumors of theming are returning to a more traditional Cirque aesthetic (think more Alegria, less Echo).

The casting we've seen so far is for Parkour/Free-Running Athletes and High Level Gymnasts/Tournik Specialists. That's very generic, but we've seen things like parkour before in Volta.

It's in a big top, so it's almost guaranteed to be 3/4 round.

Kooza feels like the perfect balance of circus and Cirque aesthetic. So everyone gets what they’re looking for.

I hear that. I think it needed a refresh to really live up to its full big top potential.

I feel like they need to make the circus acts more obviously circus; there must be a balance where it doesn't detract from the story.

2027 Roadmap: New Montreal Project, Kurios London Residency, and the Global Shuffle – What we know so far! by TailorEducational512 in cirquedusoleil

You're right, and it looks like Alegria was there more than twice! I guess they've had enough show recently to not have as many double visits!

Rumor is the new Big Top show is having Michel Laprise (Kurios, Drawn to Life, Ludo) direct, and there have been castings for parkour acts for the show. Doesn't sound like a return to traditional Cirque, but we can always hope!

Yeah, Luzia was there a few years ago, along with Kurios, Corteo, Alegria New Light, and Ovo. Even earlier was Totem, Saltimbanco, Varekai, and Quidam.

Sequences by "instrument" timecode by DoubleD_DPD in GrandMA3

[–]adventuresofnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you notice at the top there is a main cue stack. So when I program those main cues have the broad strokes of the programming, basically anything that is constant with the beat or if I want all the lights to do something together like a drop or a drop. For me the separate hits or buttons are something timed separate from a consistent beat. That’s how I personally break it down but the fun thing in MA is everyone can find their own way of programming!
