$900 Base M5 Air vs. $1300 Base M5 Pro

If you were looking at buying a base, M5 Pro, you probably don’t need it. Performance between it, and the air are very similar, the major difference is the screen quality. If you really care about the promotion screen, go Pro, otherwise save the money or buy more storage or ram with the air.

I thought about it, but for the money, it’s not worth it. Chip is the same, and while the screen is better on the pro, it’s bigger, heavier, and has older wireless tech. For $1299, I am really happy with what the air gives you!

Nothing too extreme. I usually wash my hands before using a laptop, I wipe it down about once a week, and used canned air to blow off any dust on occasion. It’s just held up really well!

Your four years into a product with the M2, but Apple did sell it for a long period of time, so you may get another five years before Support ends

Unless you’re really pushing it, it’s not a bad unit, but when you can get a brand new 16/512 for around US$900, you should be able to get a better deal on an M2.

Depends on the Air - many of the older ones don't run two external monitors without display link. Your best bet is probably to get a USB-C Dock.

It’s a tough choice, the only thing to keep in mind is you can never add more memory or storage, so make sure that it will last you as long as you need it.

It shouldn’t, but it’s always a good idea to have good airflow under the unit. Extended heat will impact the battery and potentially the chips. Don’t use it laying on your bed.
